I'm not gonna piss... followed by piss. |
for me: photoshop and illustrator
if i want to put some different vector shapes in, i draw in illustrator and bring it into photoshop and fuckaround with it... I'm curious about fireworks mx though, as some people seem to swear by it, i wouldn't totally bash it until i had given it a go. |
PS over here, but I must admit I never realy looked closer at fireworks.
|
I started using photoshop when 4.0 came out and I'm used to it. I haven't really tried Fireworks.
|
For simple text logos I find FireWorks alot easier to work with. :2 cents:
|
Photoshop although Fireworks is easier to learn and get started with IMO.
|
I use fireworks mx 2004 and PSP 7.4
PS take a long time to learn and load. although PS has killer effects! BTW i am not a designer. |
I started out using Fractal Painter years ago, at the time it blew PS out of the water introducing multiple layers, undo levels and many other features that took Adobe years to develop, as well as natural media painting tools, shape integration like in Illustrator, full 30 frames per second animation editing capabilities, joint online projects (in 1996!) and much more.
But after years of Adobe market domination, Painter sold to Corel and now sucks ass, I gave it up and use PS mostly but I will give FW a try for sure after this thread. |

For those who mentioned Photoshop effects, open fireworksMX, go to Edit/Preferences/Folders, and there you can import PS effects (Photoshop Plugins setting). For someone above who mentioned adobe.com site - it's nothing special from what I see, the most attractive part was made in MACROMEDIA flash, those dropdown menus can be easily made in FW, and the rest can be even notepad (not to mention DW). For webdesign - macromedia rules. We're not doing print work, billboards and whatnot. |
One more for Fireworks MX. Very easy to learn and high quality results. Plus easy to change a design later if you need to.

Photoshop but i'm not good with it.
|
I do all my work myself (and hubby helps a bit) but I use Photoshop primarily for the graphics and Dreamweaver for the site design. I tried Fireworks but couldn't really get the hang of it a few years ago. Now that I know flash though, I think I'll go back and give it another go. I'm just not that graphically-minded. Give me some tables to fill and I'm a happy girl. :) (as you can see from my site)
I'd love it if some people could post sites they've done and state which program they used. Like this is my site blalblah.com and I designed the front page with blah blah. I'm sorry Amp, but I don't know intuitively which sites are yours. The sig banner looks sweet, though. :) |
