What's most important in this business?

In order to be successful at being an adult webmaster?

In my opinion it's traffic, I've seen the shittiest sites make large amounts of money with the right amount of good traffic.

Can anyone make an arguement for anything else?

I put both as more of a "is volume or quality more important" type arguement.

I think it depends on the site and your goals. Some sites like tgps just need lots of traffic, other sites need good filtered traffic.

it takes a combination of things, not just any one thing is gonna do the trick

I would say lots of good quality traffic, experience, good site design and a little programming talent (or having someone with programming talent on your side)

Thats pretty much what has done it for me anyway

you need two things

lots of good traffic for sure but also you need the ability to sell.

if you can't sell then you aren't going to make it, website or any other biz.

the dollars are in the sales.

Whichever way you try to number any list of importance -
1) - Traffic Shit)
2) - Traffic Quality)
3) - Sustaining traffic)
4) - Trading all of the above, and emails and member details and buying more traffic and creating a unique member site with unique content and getting half decent models and updating every day with 50 mbs or more and looking after your members and looking after your partners and ensuring your server is shit fast at all times and and and and and.

Fuck knows - I know most programs simply list PROFIT as number 1
I try for customer satisfaction - That is why my rebills are far higher than most of the "bigger" prgrammes.

You could easily say all of them are important really.

Without traffic you don't have money, or a big site. Without a nice productive site design you don't got traffic or money. Without money you got fuck all.

One factor determines some others. Its too hard to pick just one.

Traffic is # 1. If you have lots of it you can be a total putz and still make money.

Marketing and advertising skills are # 2. Having these helps you to maximize your revenues from your traffic.

Networking is very important in this industry. Knowing people can get you good deals.

Capital. Got to have some working capital just like in any business. Most plans don't go as planned so you have to have enough ammo in your clip to keep shooting till you find your target.

Management skills. Like capital, a must have for any entrepreneur that will end up succeeding in their ventures.

Integrity. This industry has very long memories.

Good answer! also funding for other projects is swell.. too.

owning alot of good trophy typein names.. and smart enough in buying them when they come up forsale? I see alot of quality names that are a once in alifetime offer up for grabs. opening your wallet to secure your future I'm might add is a logical move..

purchasing good names boosts not only your traffic+wallet+value

there's really never a loss only to gain..my

good evening all..

i would have to say design and content,
i see very few sites that i am impressed with the setup of the design to go with the content.

usually high quality content sells itself. and a quality design to go along with it is always a plus.

Really bad traffic could mean Chinese. You will have a hard time selling anything to that group.

The most important thing in this business I've noticed is Experience. Experience tells you the right time to get into a new niche or throw more at an existing site, and when to sell it off, and start over again. Like any business, you have to know the waters, and anticipate the waves.

Integrity. WILL. You'd be surprised at how many people on this board spend their days dreaming without lifting a finger to realize their dreams.

If you have an innovative new program/traffic system, make the effort and have the will to turn your aspirations into hard reality.

There's so many cheap designers, data entry labor guys, submitters, etc on this board to help you make your projects reality. Just scrounge some cash together and make it happen!

None of the above. In my experience its is kick ass content that sells a site. The design can be shity, the traffic lame, but if you have unique compelling content the world will ever so slowly but steadfastly beat a path to your door.

For me personally it is a combo of programming, capital and marketing ability. Programming gets the traffic, but you need to have capital to invest in domains and hosting, and the marketing ability to convert it to generate the ROI you're looking for.

If I was to start at ground zero again - I would say management skills and capital. I would pay people to do my programming, build my traffic, do my marketing.
