Graphics cards - RADEON 9500 Pro 128MB - good card?
Someone is offering me a cheap deal on this card - RADEON 9500 Pro 128MB . Is it worth getting and will I be able to play the new games like Prince of Persia Sands of Time, Halflife2 and Doom3 or should I go for a Radeon 9800? Would these 2 cards make a big difference in framerate and graphics?
(This may not be the perfect place to ask, but I dont know any hardware forums) |

If you flash the bios and OC the 9500PRO it kicks ass.
I have mine running better than a 9700 PRO. Way more bang for your buck than the 9800

I have the 9000 pro and have never had a problem running any games. I'm guessing the 9500 is a higher model so you shouldn't have a problem

I'd recommend getting the original Sapphire Radeon 9500 NON-Pro.
You can use a softmod to overclock it to perform like a 9800 PRO. |

its definetely a difference
9500 pro is a good card though and if youre lucky you might be able to run it at the speed of a 9700 |

You have to find a hacked bios then boot into a dos prompt with a floppy. Theres instructions out there... jsut do a search.... make sure you get the right bios for the kind of ram you have.

And how would I know if the card is overclockable when i buy it? When I buy it I can test it on the user's computer before taking it home.

Thanks guys! I hope my 9500Pro is overclockable. Even if its not, it looks like it will handle Doom3. I dont want to be upgrading again in a few months..

If you want a pure 2D card with crisp clear graphics get a Matrox..they suck for 3D gaming though
I would pick the 9600XT or 9800XT above the 9500 or any Nvidia card if it comes to 3d gaming neverteless |

If you hang around the popular hardware forums, then you should be able to find someone willing to sell it. |
