Will design for help...
If anybody here can help me fix my windows installation problem i will make you a badass gallery template or something or whatever... i just need help. I am trying to install XP pro on a new system that came OS'less and im having issues.
first, i installed xp pro from my disk and it worked fine but i had some error a day or two later that forced me to reformat etc.... now, when i try to install it just plain doesnt work. I try and install win xp pro and after installation it just goes right back to "setup windows". Originally, as i remember, it would "setup windows" and then would go to GUI where i could configure my windows. Now, it just reboots after "windows setup" and goes right back to "windows setup". if i try to setup again it says, "there is already an OS on this partition" etc.... so i "format c:" and after reboot it still tells me that there is an OS already installed. its like a never ending loop and i cant get it to get back to the GUI install stage. sometimes after i format, when i try to reintsall windows.. it doesnt tell me that there is an OS already installed (after formats) and i install windows but again, it installs and reboots right back to the "windows setup" again. this loop is killing me. Please help. icq me if you think you can fix this and i will arrange to make this more than up to you! (60946828) Its times like these when i with there was a "computer rooter" service. thanks in advance. |

Sounds like you are gonna have to copy the installation disk to your hard drive first to install it properly. I haven't done that in over 3 years so I can't guide you through it unfortunately.

try doing an actual fdisk, then boot of your cd and try the installation. Let windows create the partion don't do that when you fdisk.

not sure if this helps but, if i remove the xp pro install cd at reboot, i get a black screen with this white text: "Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device."
ps. who decided which words were to be capitalized in this error? then i put cd back in and reboot and it tries to start all over agin with windows setup. ![]() |

Also one thing to check with windows xp pro, if its a new computer, i had a prob with one of those seagate 10000rpm drives. You actually need to install the specific raid drivers for the drive for your installation cd. Have a read on your HDD install book and find out whether it runs via raid or not. If so copy the right files onto a floppy from your hdd install cd and hit f6 when windows setup is loading and load the raid drivers from your floppy. If either of those 2 dont work, take the pc back and tell them its fucked. Lemme know how you go BigNath 179255256 |
