				Advice needed on Verizon coverage

I am thinking about changing from Sprint PCS to Verizon, I need good coverage in NorCal (North Bay North of SF), LA/Orange County, Phoenix, and Las Vegas).

Any advice, should I change? Thanks Plugger |

I don't know much about verizon, but I have been extremely happy with AT&Ts Next Generation GSM/GPRS service!! I was on AT&Ts older cell network, and was a previous Sprint PCS customer, and had the usual complaints with both - dropped calls, sucky reception, no calls in hotels, etc. I was looking at switching providers, though I had not heard of any being better, when I tried the GSM/GPRS service. It does not work as well in remote areas yet, as it is still a new/smaller network, but in cities and larger areas, it rocks!! I have great connections and signals almost anywhere - even in Vegas hotel rooms. If you are in remote areas a lot, you can also get a multi-band phone, which will allow you to have GSM/GPRS service in the city, and use normal digital cell in remote locations. Check the coverage maps at their site - lots of free phones with new service for the holidays too - http://www.attwireless.com.

	Hope it helps |

CHANGE. Verizon is the best in So Cal if you ask me. Nextel is USUALLY extremely close, but Verizon doesn't look like they are over subscribing their network. The tri-band phones are pretty cool as well. Lots of network options.

cool, I might switch. Sprint PCS does not want to cut me a deal on a new phone. I have been with them for 6 years, and the best they have to offer is $150 rebate? Shit, I might just switch to spite myself . . .

Any feedback from Verizon in AZ (Phoenix area)? |

Since I do a lot of traveling, I've found Verizon to have the best nationwide coverage of all the carriers I have been with, thus far.

Having worked for a bunch of U.S. telephone companies, I'd just have to change Verizon's punchline to "can you hear me yet?" I've heard more complaints about Verizon than any other company...oh, with the exception of Bell South.

IMHO (despite the fact that it's in my nature to hate the big fish) I'd have to say that AT&T Wireless seems to have the most consistent package, and if you're in California, their local package runs right down the west coast of the U.S. from Canada to Mexico and includes Las Vegas and Reno (and right now, they've got long distance included, unlimited nights & weekends and heaps of bonus daytime minute promotions). |
