No.
I just want to go on and live in in torn jeans and old sneakers. I want to come to NO and eat that great food and hang out by the riverwalk.

I don't aspire to do anything but live out the rest of my life and be happy.

;-)

I am going to be selling all of my adult type domains, have some great ones that I have had for a long time, cannot remember them all but there will be time enough in the future to sell them off.

dokk.com, 44mag.com and amstation.com are really the only three domains I care about.

first of all congratulations.. sounds awesome...

Now, if you can, I have a few technical questions so I fully understand what you did :)

First of all, if I fully understand, you invented a new video/audio codec, right?

It is hardware only? What kind of hardware do you need to encode/decode in realtime?

Any idea how long it might take till software only versions would be possible?

1.08 gigs for 2 hours is a _HUGE_ step up from DivX/XviD. We are talking roughly 157kb per second. Which really is TINY, especially for HDTV-resolution and quality. I would LOVE to see a sample of this :)

Did you find a name yet? :)

Oh, and do you have your patent number handy? :) Would love to read it...

Same questions here (EE degree)..

You're at a critcal point now. You really need to protect what you have. I know a handful of engineers that were screwed out of the $ side of what they did. Assume you have engineering notes, diagrams, signed (dated) and a witness to your signature. You'll need a patent attorney. Chances are you don't have the $ for that. So you'll need someone to back you without screwing you. Be careful on the business end.

Best of luck! I knew it paid to read GFY threads!

Nathan 12-27-2003 05:20 PM

Hey Dokk,

of course we want pictures! :)

BTW, Dokk - if you need the name of a good patent attorney, LMK. Wig's wife (whom you met at your party last summer) was referring theirs to someone and had great things to say about him. :)

I may, I may not.
But I know what it's like to be a happy man.

I feel very good.

I have already handed it off to the proper attorneys and contacts and all the bullshit.

They can sort it out, that's what their job is.

I'm not an attorney. Or a patent specialist, or an engineer.

dokk 12-27-2003 07:49 PM

To be specific I have contacted the local hall county enforcement agencies and notified them of donation of one of my appliances.

I have also contacted the CIA public relations officer and notified them of the availability of the appliance right after notifying local government. . It is holiday time and will take some time for them to wort it out, that's fine, that's what their job is. CNN has been notified as well and the story has been passed down to their news desk yesterday.

I guess I just don't understand the technology, because it seems there is already other similar technologies out there. Well technically, if you have cable TV and can get a HDTV channel through your digital cable box, isn't that the same thing?

If you are talking about HDTV signals over IP, there are people working on that as well:

http://www.dtvprofessional.com/2001/...yops_mpegx.htm

http://www.digitaltelevision.com/200...ws0425_1.shtml

There's also been a HDTV commercial DVD already released, (Terminator 2), that you can play on your PC. I understand they have some pretty heavy duty encryption on it so you need a fast PC to play it.

Is there something your invention is doing that the others aren't?

That's great and I congratulate anyone that strives to accomplish any task.

I have jumped through these hoops with attorneys, engineers, business people and the software cracker jacks and it's the same old thing. They all ask the same questions, then they email, then they call or conference and then we finally get to the stage that everything is cool and they fully understand.

I am at that point now with the people who need to know and am going to let them all do whatever it is that they wish to do.

At this point, toe it's just making frisbees.

It's so simple it takes people a while to get it.

That's about all there is to it.. it's really not that big a deal to me.

Even as creator of the technology I cannot even begin to imagine the power and potential.. the concept was hard to explain at first but it's very very simple.

In th e digital world, you have input and output.. that's it.

Whether it's DV D or CD or the Internet or anything else.. it's just an input or output.

Imagine going to your local movie rental store and instead of handing you a DVD they hand you a tiny little SD memory card.

Or HDTV to your sets all over the house via Wifi.. it's just another output. Whatever ... it doesn't matter.

This isn't thoery, it's real and I am not even going to guess what changes it will bring to this world, the possibilities are endless.

Does your invention make something like that possible or are you just making a comparison? One more question :)

Do you have a buyer interested in your product?

dokk 12-31-2003 09:10 PM

tonight we went to see LOTR Return of the King.. when the film started I chuckled and when I noticed all the little marks and artifacts on the screen, I chuckled and told my daughter "yes they still put movies on film.

The film broke no less than 5 times.

As Frodo was about to drop (or not) his ring into the fire at the end of the movie, the film broke again.

Everybody there got a free pass to come back at another time.

Before we had left the theater I already had the basics down for a digital light projection system to replace the old way.

No more broken film, no physical transport... reduced cost, each movie display as clean for the 5000th showing as the 1st..

Maybe film is just more fun. ;-)

evildick 12-31-2003 09:28 PM

I think Lucasfilm and Texas Instruments beat you to that idea by about 4 years or so.

http://www.techweb.com/wire/story/TWB19990604S0029

Trouble is getting all the old theaters to replace their projectors.
