if you get a mac you'll be one of "THOSE" people heheheh the diehard Macintosh users ,
Their Graphics is great lots of benefits with Mac , but i think you might run into some issues with certain programs that are not Mac Compatible ! On the otherhand , i hear lots of great things about them such as the one you mentioned like they never get viruses or if they do its very seldom |
|
Go for it man!
MAC is just fantastic and amazing and you don't get those problems compared with PC... |

I hear you on the viruses though.. salmonella is a bitch. Shit that happens to PC's? oh.. like when you drop a piece of lettuce in the keyboard or something? (but hell yeah, get an Apple :thumbsup) |

I run Ad-aware PRO Trend antivirus Quickfix IE exploitblocker Spamweed Kiero Ps Firewall 3. party MSAutoupdater And in the last 1,5 year NEVER had a virus, trojan, advare or spyware problem Buy a Fast AMD Opteron based PC with WinXP Pro, and you are home free You run all that software just so you can use a PC, why ? when a Mac straight out of the box is less prone to getting a virus. I run 10 x G5 dual 2 gigs in my office and we get so much work done its amazing. I dont care if PCs are the fastest or a Mac is the fastest. The fact is my Macs dont crash, if a program crashes the OS is still up and running allowing me to restart the program without re starting the computer, we network all 10 machines and can process images in fractions of a second. Sometimes i have to process 10,000 images which would normally take hours on this set up takes less than 1 hour. |

I could see if you were a Linux guy and you wanted to run AMD64 maybe. |
Depending on what you wanted to use it for .. probably better off with a Mac
|
I'm such a lightweight against the viruses and trojans out there, I'll go buy a TRS 80 or maybe a Commodore Vic 20:helpme :1orglaugh

Get the mid range G5 with a gig of ram.
Hard drive storage to taste. a 20 inch wide screen flat panal. If there are any pc program you just HAVE to run, virtual pc for the G5 should be ready in a month or so... But hey, if you dont end up with a full blown 64 bit G5 as your main computer. Do yourself a favor and get a flat panal imac or a low end laptop to surf. You'll be sooooo much a happier surfing around, believe me |
What are windoze users thinking?
Espically adult webmasters! File Vault-FileVault automatically encrypts and decrypts the contents of your home directory on the fly. Expose -Instant access to any open window with a single keystroke. UNIX-The most widely-distributed UNIX-based operating system in the world. ( please dont tell me your the only one using windoze to serve your web pages ) Need to run those ten thousand crappy freeware windoze programs? Fine. Run any windoze program on a Mac with Virtual PC Sick of Virus's? then Switch Sick of crashes? then Switch All right... Fuck it, Im going to bed now. |
I just want a damn right click button on a laptop. Can I have that please!? Just a simple little request! Damnit why do they have to be so difficult!?!?!

I used PC's since 1981, always recommended aginst MAC's. OSX has changed all of that. I use a MAC now, we switched most of our office machines to Macintosh and I do not regret it. The extra cost is well balanced by the lack of down time.
If the application software you use is available for a Mac you will accomidate to the new interface in a couple of hours and really enjoy the stability and lack of trojans and viruses. |
Hi sleazydream,

We only use Macs now.
Anybody who says Macs are only good for graphics obviously hasn't used one recently. :2 cents: |

sleazy did you ever get the mac?

I know this is an old thread but I could not resist to respond to those bitching about the single maouse button issue...
Did you know... That if you hold your button down an extra second the right click dialog pops up? Or... If that don't work, or is too much a hassle for you, try holding the 'control' button down when clicking. Both these options are useful for the one button guys, some macs don't work with the first one, but if I remember right that was designed just for the notebook users. You would think the hardcore mac users would have known this. BTW... OS X.3 Panther ROCKS!!! dig deeper into your features and options and there is a lot of cool things that rule over PC. way more advanced. I am running an old G3 iMac with panther, adobe creative suite, and macromedia studio MX 2004. Nothing better than this killer combo for ANY web developer. |
So what are a few of these options that you can dig deeper to uncover, just curious. Thought about getting a mac myself a few times.
