Jay and I have fine tuned our sites to take full advantage of our SE traffic. So many sites just bombard SE surfers with FPAs, banner farms etc... that's great for a quickie, but damn, just think if you got that first sale, plus a bookmarker, plus a surfer that trusts you. Gives a whole damn new meaning to "recurring revenue".

Jay, please, please, please don't give your secrets away to the masses. I want to be the only one that understands you ;-)

Yeah man - I've learned my lesson about that in the past. To do what I've mentioned, it takes commitment of time, hard work, and investment of money - most people are not even ambitious enough. It was more just some common sense advice.

Some of my pages weathered that update - some pages got snuffed. Overall my traffic actually went up a little, even though I lost some big terms.

Consider yourself lucky, my traffic has plummetted big time. All ethical listings too, no spam or irrelevant links... surviving off freshbot and PPC SE's right now :)

Yeah - well we all know what happened. They want you surviving off those PPCs. The Florida thing was money motivated, so if you lost listings - it wasn't your fault - I'm sure. I've always played a conservative / long term SE game, so it was a big dissapointment to se good listings to get axed like that, while A LOT of the worst spam listings still lived on.

Tell me about it! All commercial stuff has been booted lately. Drives me nuts but at least we're all in the same boat. I'm just glad I wasn't singled out in this last update but a lot of changes need to come in the future to stay in business. Thank god for mixing up the SE strategy with some PPC.

Yeah - hadn't been doing a lot of PPC cause my ranks were really god with the free listings. My #1 refferer was a #4 for "xxx" and that is totally gone. December has been my highest sales month of all time, and I rememeber seeing a post somewhere about you being the #1 sales guy for CEN this month, so you couldn't be doing THAT bad - lol.

I wonder how much better the profit is with all SE traffic compared to high (10x) numbers of traded traffic?

Pornwolf - SE traffic kicks the shit out of traded shit. You can get the same amont of sales with a tenth of the traffic.

So Jay, tell me this... since you are a SE expert, which you must be to do so well, would you have done better by getting the same amount of traffic sent to FPAs instead of a link list? It seems like you would be able to get 70k to multiple fpa's easily.

75% of those joins were from Paris Hilton related searches on various engines. Was a nice little spike but its slowing down now. Time to start changing up the mix :)

It's not even fair to compare these two methods. SE traffic can work wonders when approached the correct way.

I definitely agree about using the same methods and designs when creating new sites.

Time is money, and when you already have something created that you know works, you can duplicate it again and again with relative ease.
