Not at all. You go to Law School to learn how to think in a certain way not memorize black letter law.

first few years of medical school are basically memorising a shitload of facts. It's not until you get into the clinical years you can start to put things together, and use all that information in a meaningful way.

The LSAT is one hell of a hard test. Definitely weeds out bad test takers. But that's all it tests.... how good you are in taking tests. It's unfortunate that law schools are such slaves to the LSAT e.g. Harvard only taking LSAT scores of 171 and up. So, good test takers go to "good" schools, everyone else goes to "second class" schools. However, the school you came from is not indicative of how good you are as an attorney.

Indeed some of the baddest ass attorneys out there went to lower level/second class schools. Robert Shapiro went to Loyola, definitely a second tier school. Nor does good grades in law school predict success. A good example is the guy who won the multi BILLION tortious interference with contract case against Texaco in the mid 80's... he FAILED torts during law school. LOL.

So...my advice is... go to law school if you wish to learn and you wish to take on a challenge. Having your head clear re what your goals are will definitely see you through in the challenges that law school entails.

Best of luck to ya, BVF.

It sounds like she was learning to brief a case. I quit doing that after the first semester.

Jedimaster 12-23-2003 07:50 AM

my wife is going to medical school:thumbsup

KRL 12-23-2003 07:58 AM

I considered both. Decided not to go with a medical career after joing Medical Explorers in High School. You visit hospitals and see what doctors really do on a daily basis. Watched one operation and realized cutting people open all day long was not what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.

Went into Pre-Law in college, but realized I wanted to be an entrepreneur more than anything.

I would have been a great surgeon because I love taking things apart and putting them together and enjoy precision work and I would have been a damn good lawyer and still use that knowledge I learned in college for a lot of my businesses.

But business is way more fun than either of those careers.

Worked for her. But she had to modify it for writing briefs... more along the lines of conclusions rule analysis conclusion again or CRAC :)
