ultra cheap hosting?

im selling my server and i've been shopping around for a hosting company. I found this one http://www.iicinternet.com

"WebPro4 Unlimited disk space, 500 Gig, 1 Mo= $19.95 and 19.95 per month afterwards. No setup fee.

overusage: 0.45 cents per gig or you get to switch to another plan which is like 20$ more for 600 gigs

is this too good to be true?

i've never seen anything so cheap... whaddya think?

Yes you do.

You think those prices are good for celerons? Have you ever tried to push real traffic to a celeron with scripts running?

managed.com has some great prices if you don't mind overlooking their somewhat shady past. $55/month for 1200gb of bandwidth.

Ok.

I own my own hosting company and I buy my bandwidth through easy online solutions a reseller for verio housed in the same place as sinhost. I do sales for sinhost because my plans and his plans differ and some customers are better suited for sinhost than my servers.

I also do full time tech support and sales for Oxeo and Pimpshost. Again different bandwidth servers and plans.

So I hook people up with where they fit in best.

So just to answer your question I don't always sell people on my service. I have also helped people out on Rackshack servers and sent people to jupiter hosting.

Does that answer your question?

Good, now show me any plan comparable to one at that host. It doesn't have to be their celeron packages, anything comparable to what they offer. Same amount of bandwidth.

Celeron vs. regular intel lacks operations that are vital for graphics mainly. You will have no problem pushing bandwidth on them and you should get the same performance as a standard intel machine. Of course make sure you dont run some gay graphics OS like windows, or Redhat9 with WinX and you will be fine.

Playing a game on it of course its a different matter, but this is about servers, not gaming.

No thats exactly the problem people only look at price. They don't look at service, equipment, tech support, or anything else.

I help a lot of people out that go to companies like iicinternet or rackshack without them knowing simple basic *nix skills. Why do they do it? Price.

Alot of these people end up being so desperate to leave these hosting companies because their sites are down they take almost any offer by a company with tech support and get burned paying double what they should be. It's a vicious circle.

Have you matched these companies equipment for equipment, Bandwidth provider for bandwidth provider, uptime vs uptime, and tech support vs tech support?

For most people here I can say the answer is no. Most people look at price and then hope they don't have problems.

Don't believe me? Come answer my phones for a week, answer my icq's, and answer my e-mails.

The sheep will follow cheap prices and then they get ass raped when they find out the cheap prices are actually hurting their business.

Am I saying a box at rackshack is a bad move? No. But if your going to go for their prices make sure you know how to manage that box after you get it. Out of all the people that say they have good results with rackshack the common denominator is the fact they know how to manage a server.

And your comment of I am just promoting the people I am affiliated with thats so wrong because I didn't even mention the name of my hosting company in this thread and I also mentioned companies that I have no affiliation with.

I did that on purpose so people can see it's an unbiased opinion. But no matter what instead of reading my reply you just blame me for trying to spam my shit. Thats exactly the mentality of most of the sheep on this board.

Cheap hosting is just what it is.....cheap. You get what you pay for.

Things to consider when looking at a host to handle your biz.

1. What providers does the host get THEIR bandwidth from ?
2. Where is the host's colocation center located at?
3. What are the technical support offerings for this host?

If the host has only 1 provider of Bandwidth and the one provider to the host goes down, your sites are down. Game over.

ISPs do go down from time to time, its a fact of life. Having more than 1 upstream ISP allows the host to reroute traffic across other networks and your sites are still visible via the magic of BGP-4.

Serious hosting crews are located in Major Carrier hotels. If you arent sure where these places are check out this
www.carrierhotels.com This site gives locations of where the major carriers typically all intersect at.

Being in these major carrier hotels enables your host the capabilites to be conencted to their upstreams with minimal points of failure, as well a very stable environment for all the related servers, routers, switches. Much better than a crew off in a single building somewhere with limited connection options.

Tech support - can they be reached 24-7 on the phone, via IM clients of a few sorts and also, email?? What is included in my support package exactly?...finding out later that you dont have reliable knowledgeable and also, reachable support just sucks.

Host with compaines that will take your business as seriously as you take your business. You'll save money, time and headaches in the end.

I have boxes at 2 seperate hosts on seperate networks should anything happen with one of the hosts even.

Good luck there are a lof of good hosts on the board to check out.

Do you have 24/7/365 support?
Yes, we have NOC personnel onsite 24/7/365 for reboots and assistance with your servers.

What is the preferred method of support?
Our online ORBIT support portal is the best method of support. It is designed to authenticate verified users and define privileges. All customers can create trouble tickets, view real time bandwidth graphs, server monitoring, reboot requests, DNS requests, add/remove/modify email, contact account managers, requests quotes, etc.

Do you have toll free phone support?
Yes, 1-800-377-6103 or click on the about us section for contact information.

By no means do I even remotely think I know more about hosting than him. However, I don't think he even looked at what that company offers before he blew it off as b/s. We did our research and I don't see anybody showing me how they aren't comparable. They are like Rackshack?

You think I haven't done my research?

Come answer my phone, icq, and email for a week. You'll have all the research you need for that company.

Another thing stocktrader you think I don't know what companies are running for equipment? Do you think I'm not tied into knowing how they run thier support?

Can you guess how many datacenters of competitors I have been in?

Can you venture to guess how many ISP's I have built?

Do you know how many webhosts I have setup wiring and all?

Do you have a clue how many webhosts are on my monthly billing for taking care of their customers?

If you can answer half of those questions with certainty you'd know how much research I have done.

You may not like my answers but my answers are honest because I built my reputation in hosting through integrity. I have on more than one occasion told people good things about companies I am in no way affiliated with. So keep running your pie hole when you know nothing about any of the answers I posted.

BTW stocktrader hows your integrity? Do you follow through with the things you spout off about here?

Think before you open your mouth.

If I knew the answer I wouldn't keep fucking asking you. Like I said, I don't claim to know more about hosting than you. However, you knock everything about that company and I have heard nothing but good about them. I ask you what makes it bad, 4 of the providers suck. Ok, so are the other 3 good enough? How many do you have? I'm asking to find out, not to be a smartass.

"BTW stocktrader hows your integrity? Do you follow through with the things you spout off about here?"

You don't have a fucking clue. The people I work with don't come on here backing me up all the damn time or even post here much for that matter. I haven't done a damn thing but try to help people from this board. I just don't make my business public so I'm not running around bragging about so and so works with me now, and all the normal b/s. But I guess you did your research on that one too asshole.

Yes I did do my research on that. Did you not tell my wife you'd show her how to make 500 dollars a week with some way you do things?

Do you follow through or did you stop answering her questions?

How many other people did you leave hanging?

Here's a clue on the above:

Now as for your other concerns I'll have to ask you to break out the calculator.

4 bad providers out of 7 total means that over half of thier network is reliant on bad providers.

Those are easy numbers even you can figure them out.

I didn't question his hosting knowledge. I asked a few questions that still aren't answered aside from the jackass comment above. He's obviously pissed about something else. There are several people on here in another thread prasing that host for the exact things he says they lack. Makes no sense. The reason I was questioning him is because I'm about 2 days from getting a server there and wanted to know what was so bad before I made my decision. Aside from the ego trip about him being a hosting GOD I didn't see a real answer besides the "you get what you pay for" spill.
