How many of you fell for Smokey's trick last night?

We figured out what happened last night.

He used malicious html code to redirect a page on his server, and had a form on it, if you clicked the form, YOU make a post on GFY that Smokey prefined.

A bunch of people fell for it. Have you ever heard of a banned thread? Did you look at the url?

We allow html so people can do tables and shit like that on GFY, there's always one smartass that trys to fuck it up for everyone. We blocked the malicious shit a long time ago, but someone just has to try to find a way around it.

I think we all did.. it was funny as hell, but I can definitely see your point of it and why ya banned it. Could have very well been something harmful...... not good.

BUT it did get a few lurkers posting, so I guess that at least SOMETHING good came from it, huh?

So I didn't fall for it lastnight.

from what i saw, he just used a form with hidden values hosted on gfy, thats what i saw, there was nothing malicious about it. 90% of the people who did it laughed about it. It was no more harmful if you had typed "I love Smokey the bear" in your own reply box..

I would have to agree that it wasn't malicious what Smokey was doing. Really, it is somewhat helpful, because imagine when someone who REALLY wants to fuck with the board comes along, and does these exploits.

i knew the first box was a trick but i played along just to see what would happen.

This board isnt a charity thing...he makes alot of money with this board and yes he does want people posting here.

Its a give and take thing...he makes money from us and should spend money on us. (security and shit)

I bet you run 1 or more free sites...its the same thing...you need visitors to make money so you give them a quality site hoping they will pull their wallets.

I think he has enough mods that could handle this but for some weird reason some people get banned for using 1 wrong word and others can mess with the board for 2 weeks with the mods knowing it and nobody cares.

Its like I said the other day, there are people who post here who have alot of security k-base. but they dont use any of it on here, because it would get them banned.

There is a difference between Serge who indeed comes here to make fun of people and can "own" them because hes smarter than them and people like Smokey who are complete losers, who failed in their real life and try to get some attention on the internet by fucking up shit for other people.

If you cant see the difference between these 2 people then i'd say you belong the group of "smokey's".
