They're rubies. The lighting makes them look purple I guess.

That's too much rolex for me. I'm too casual of a dresser to ever wear something that dressy.

I have an antique Rolex Oyster. It was one of the first made when Rolex and Oyster merged. It is insured at £150k - about $250k. It does not look like much of a watch but it has not stopped for 70 years.

I inherited it.

For her birthday last year, I got my wife a really nice Movado. No diamonds or encrusted crap. It is a beautiful peice, but also one that she feels comfortable with every day.

If you have to worry about personal security over an item, and just keep it locked up rather than wearing it, it's not worth having. Put it in a museum or something.
