U.N. leaving Afghanistan, you know since it's so safe and all

Looks like the UN is ready to bail since we have done such a great job at stabilizing Afghanistan, you know you remember that place where the real terrorists were and probably still are. You know before we went fishing for oil in Iraq. Guess it's not going to super great over there like King George wants us to believe. But really do we even care since they don't hardly talk about it on the news.

I believe last count there were still over 2000 Canadian soldiers there. Hope they are safe for the holidays. Blessed be.

This should again show people how useless the UN is. They have zero resolve and absolutely no way of maintaining a presence.

When the going gets even slightly difficult the UN get out.

That article is about the UN raising another white flag in surrender.

why else have they become so irrelevant?

The UN is pretty shitty in most respects except for one and that's in rendering aid in the many places around the world, in all other aspects they are shit. But they are considering pulling out of giving aid because it's not safe for them, that is a problem.

                dont count on it.

canada isnt even allowed to get contract work for their efforts, i doubt they care much.

                no contracts for canada.

I believe it said they're leaving as security for them was not being handled by your leader's troops...

since they're too busy taking care of his daddy's old mess and trying to have an appearance of an self-governed Iraq quickly before the elections...

However, I do agree the UN has become pretty fucking useless over the past decade...no arguments there

If you think your PM let's your troops get anywhere even remotely close to where someone might attack them you would be wrong, he's not that stupid. Your guys are likely in the safest place there is over there, if such a place exists, in non combat roles. How many Canadian military deaths in the war on terrorism so far? And not counting the guys the US killed.

you guys are tring to protect the kind of people that would kill international aid workers?

Man, sociallism is rotting your brains. Break the fucking chains.

As for that contract thing, the countries that stood up and did the right thing and made the commitment deserve the contracts. You snooze, you lose.

Good thing we will have 4 more years to keep fighting the good fight. Mcgovern, err Dean is in for a beating http://www.nypost.com/news/nationalnews/13258.htm

And Nader will be joining in to take even more democrat votes.

Of course not.. we wouldn't kiss Bush's ass.. no chance for us.

Apparently the UN is pulling out because their reps are getting killed and they feel it's unsafe for them to be there. Wow, nice to know it was left secured, eh? Fucking stupidity.

Who is protecting those people? All that is said is that US has failed miserably in Afghanistan.. all you did was removing the taliban for a short period of time.. guess what, they are coming back! That is a fact and not support for the people who murder aid workers.

Yeap, just like how Bush begs france etc to drop the debt Iraq owes them. If he was smart he would have at least let french companies bid on the contracts and maybe give them smaller ones.. instead they are banned and pissed off. Think they want to give up any debts now?

Those two stories are about the same soldiers and the same incident. Canadian soldiers aren't getting killed. I'm not naive and yes all of Afghanistan is dangerous and yes you totally missed my point. My point was that your government isn't allowing the troops that you guys do have to get into combat roles, they are often playing more humanitary type roles over there, yeah it's all dangerous but they're not as the soldiers call it "out in the shit". So I didn't mean anything by it other than your government has soldiers there as a largely symbolic gesture but still helpful.
