Person information submission (I think)
When someone tries to join but is declined for some reason i.e. bad cc.

you're partly right..

the jojn process for ARS sites are a 2 page process.. First page is where the surfer fills out their personal info, name, address etc. (This is when a PIS is recorded) the next page is for the credit card info and has nothing to do with the PIS. It doesn't mean that someone tried to join and got decline. It just means that they filled out the first page of the 2 page signup process.

In a lot of cases what happens is some surfers are not aware that they will require to use a credit card (using a free trial as an example) so when they go to one of ARS's sites, click join, fill the first part of the join form (which has no credit card field - makes them think it will be free) then they click submit, a pis is recorded in your stats then the surfer is on page 2 of the signup process and all of a sudden sees that he will need a credit card and he leaves. Some surfers also like to fill out the first form just to see what they get next but never actually planned on buying so in the end it really throws thr PIS to sales ratio out of whack

1 sale per 20 PIS is pretty bad.
It went some down for me... I'm at about 1:5 now.... user to do 1:3.

ya, pis's can make things very discouraging which is why I don't base my sales ratio on that. You have to take a lot into consideration when you have all these PIS's but very little sales.

We show PIS in our stats against good 'marketing' judgement. It can be an irritating factor. However, once you get past the initial shock factor (we're the only folks who show it), its a good tool to go from.

Raw to Join Page should be consistant, Join Page to PIS should be consistant and (outside any non controllable factors like scrubbing) PIS to Join should be consistant.

Once again - PIS is Personal Information Submission but does NOT classify as an attempt to make PAYMENT. Our aggregate PIS to Join is 8:1 - 9:1 (a lot of which is based upon FREE memberships, without those 6:1 - 7:1)

Hope that helps...
