that's good idea, but you would have to do check joins.. credit card joins.. if the sponsor claims you get credit for popups sign up to the popups.. sign up like real traffic and do 1 - 3 sign ups a day for 1 week striaght while traffic is being sent..
yep this is a good way too, but the problem with sending lie 1 join each day for a week is that it is harder to have solid proofs if the sponsors shave (i mean you have to put some person in a room for 1 week, taking pict from a digicam + screenshot and all)
this is why i think the internext is the perfect place to test it. Lots of webmasters from different regions, possibility to have internet acces in a private room or on any public place (who still the best idea imho) and the majority of sponsors to talk directly with them about the results. Im not going to the internext personnaly so i will not setup my idea. But, if someone can do it and post results here (or if someone pay me the trip :P) we can with less than 5000$ bucks knows which sponsors shave and who doesnt. And the best part still that we will have a lots of witness AND solid proof against cheaters.

I think the best option I've seen sofar is what some guy from here once posted... He set up his own paysite but didn't have a proceser yet.. He had surfers that wanted to join his site , join one of his sponsers.. Once they signed up, he made them send him the confirm e-mail, and then gave them access to his site..

I was thinking of doing something like this as a bonus for signing up with my sponsers. I'm sure it would also help find out who shaves.

A possible way to stop shaving
1- get a digital camera, and take picture of all the process
2- get 10 people in the same room with a credit card and a computer
3- setup a virgin affiliate account on a sponsor
4- send bullshit traffic (proxies/hitbot) to the sponsors join page
5- each people in the room sign-up on the sponsor site using is cc (using proxies or different ip adress, whatever)
6- enter the paysite with each new account (to test it really worked)
7- check your affiliates stat, you will see if the sponsor shaved you or not
8- repeat the operation using different sponsors
9 - post the fucking results on GFY and send those fuckers out of business (with all picts + screenshot)

im thinking the internext is a good place to test it

its time to stop the scammers

I am 100% in favor of the above.

I get over 5000+ uniques a month to a sex portal site I run www.sincity-erotica.net and I have yet to make anything with all the sponsor shit I have tried there that you see on the page. So do this mean that if I am making a couple small sales that I am being ripped for them and thats why I don't make shit with these sponsors?

I mean come on, you could have the shittiest site in the world, get 5K uniques a month to it and you should definately see at least 2-3 signups per month if not more.

I would guess that theres more then just a handful shaving, but I am not one to accuse because I have never had any luck with sponsoring anything hahaha :1orglaugh

Guys--If you've notcied the two sponsors who have responded to say they would be totally cool with you doing this are the same two who were the first to say Yes to Clicktruth.

This is exactly the system we have in place with CT. If you guys want to run tests, hit me up. You are correct in most of your assumptions, this is why we installed scripts on these sponsors back-ends. You need real traffic, the tests need to be conitnuos and on-going, you need to sponsors permission so you are not de-frauding them.

We have gotten all of this and send our own traffic and tests to both of these outstanding sponsors (and we're adding more). We're also happy to add any sponsor you guys recommend, so put some pressure on em!

There is no charge to join our system as a webmaster and the only charge we have for a test is the payout fee plus an admin fee so we re-coup the funds for the sponsor. If you have traffic, we can re-direct a portion of it, or all of it, whatever you prefer with your codes as normal (we have a link generator tool) or we can send our own traffic with your code if you are just getting started...

Our system has also been reviewed and approved by Epoch...and I personally go to every show (as do all the partners of the Porn Posse) if you have ???.

There is no reason you need to "trust" us...you can use our system to test sponsors for yourself....

Clearly this could be detected (proxy first red flag) and as stated in previous responses to the thread, in vilolation of your sponsors TOS. In away it is cheating the sponsor. Does another wrong make a right.

I think what needs to happen is for the industry to mature a bit. Maybe that is the growing pains we're going through. By maturing I mean stronger industry trade organizations, that could have a good of conduct and perhaps include a standarized contract that make a commitment to that code. A sponsor either agrees to use the standard contract or not. Would be a selling point to affiliates.

That contract would include (among other things) an agreement for blind testing by an industry trade association. With any profits from testiing returned the sponsor.

The $35 join payouts, obviously may make a sponsor feel the need to shave. I must say that my revshare accounts seem to have the same conversions as the pay per join.

pussyluver 12-12-2003 10:34 AM

I have tested sponsors, cause I just couldn't understanding after all those surfers I sent, there was no conversion.

I also notified the sponsor of my testing.

No sponsor ever complained. Of course I never called them cheaters. I just expressed my concerns that the process was working and that an error in my account code or something wasn't causing a problem.

In all cases my join appeared. I have not done this enough to make it a hard statistic though...
