Politicians and news agencies... hurting or benefiting?

I read this CCN article:
http://www.cnn.com/2003/TECH/interne...ess/index.html

And could not help but lower my head, shake it and sigh. These reporters are YEARS behind the news. I mean shit, AVS was started 4 years ago as far as I can remember in some forms.

This is nice coverage and reminds the average working man to go get his boner on and guy some porn and pills.
However this is hurting us severly.

Because the majority of the decision makers... being politicians, news agencies... and other parties - are all outside of the internet world and have NO idea what they are talking about, I feel this is killing us when it comes to new laws, patents etc.
I mean OBVIOUSLY. Look at the main cases in the last 2 years. Completely unjust.
Not to mention Billing processors fucking off with hundreds of thousands of dollars, and the government going "Huh? What? Oh... uh..."

Now is the ignorance of these people killing our industry, or helping making it a better place by default? By default I mean we all know they are trying to kill it... but it appears we get stronger out of it every time.

Try to put in an honest opinion and argument on the subject. I'd like to see a debate!

Don't tar all news agencies with the same brush, it's the publishers their editors who control what gets printed.

I'm a photojournalist. It's frustrating to work on a job only to have it never see the light of day.

Unfortunately with the Murdoch press and TV (fox, herald and weekly times, the sun, etc) there is so much interference from management that news isn't news anymore it's Murdoch sanctioned opinion.

The great hope for reporting news around the world is independent internet news gathering - unfortunately not enough people have been prepared to work toward a unified effort in this regard.
