SCSI or SERIAL?
I am getting ready to build a new web server, and was told by a few people that serial drives are the way to go, much cheaper and just as fast (that's 10k drives).
And I am running FreeBSD 5.0, with a Mysql heavy site. What's ya'lls honest opinions? Thanks, Jay D.

Don't forget to have plenty of RAM that is what MySQL and PHP eat so much of.

If you're making the green for the sites, go with SCSI. Much faster (caching) and most of the time they live longer..

Ok, I'm gonna rock the SCSIs, now I have to find a Card that works with FreeBSD.
And of course the Seagate 15k Cheetahs.

SATA is barely an improvement over IDE.
SCSI if you can afford it. |

Ok, to end this thread, and recap what I've learned today
I'm going with the Adaptec 2120S Card, FreeBSD 5.0 has the I20 driver that the card's chipset is based on. Seagate Ultra 320 Cheetah 15 drives. Intel board. Intel Processor. And a 12 pack of bud, soulds like a good time. thanks again everyone. Jay D.
