Sorry to hear about this RRED. My grandpa died just 3 days before my b-day when I was a kid and now I look at it as a perfect time to remember how much I loved him. Kids are tough.

So very sorry to hear of your loss, Rrred. :(

As for the kids, I would suggest telling them now. Children are more resilient than we are.

He's in a better place now! It's hard to tell kids things like this. I lost my grandfather 4 years ago, and it was the hardest lost I ever had. :( I'm still not over it!

deepest sympathy ...both my grandfathers died in the past two years. It is so painful.

and I agree with Drav - tell the kids now...

now is further away from Christmas than if you waited
a week... if you put up a manger scene for Christmas
maybe a little picture of grandpa near the angel in the
manger display...
