In 1992, 10 million citizens were unemployed, the country faced record deficits, and poverty and welfare rolls were growing. Family incomes were losing ground to inflation and jobs were being created at the slowest rate since the Great Depression.

After 8 years of Clinton economic growth averaged 4% per year, compared to average growth of 2.8% during the Reagan-Bush years. The economy grew for 116 consecutive months, the most in history.

The Clinton economy created more than 22.5 million jobs in less than eight years: the most jobs ever created under a single administration.

Overall unemployment dropped to the lowest level in more than 30 years, down from 6.9% in 1993 to just 4% in November, 2000. The unemployment rate had been below 5% for 40 consecutive months.

Inflation was at the lowest rate since the Kennedy Administration, averaging 2.5%, down from 4.7% during the previous administration.

The homeownership rate reached 67.7% for the third quarter of 2000, the highest rate on record. In contrast, the homeownership rate fell from 65.6% in the first quarter of 1981 to 63.7% in the first quarter of 1993.

The poverty rate declined from 15.1% in 1993 to 11.8% in 2000, the largest six-year drop in poverty in nearly 30 years. 7 million fewer people in poverty than there were in 1993.

The surplus in FY 2000 was $237 billion, the third consecutive surplus and the largest surplus ever.

Between 1998-2000, the publicly held debt was reduced by $363 billion, the largest three-year pay-down in U.S. history. Under Presidents Reagan and Bush, the debt held by the public quadrupled.

After increasing under the previous two administrations, federal government spending as a share of the economy has been cut from 22.2% in 1992 to 18% in 2000, the lowest level since 1966.

How did he do this?

Enacted the 1993 Deficit Reduction Plan without a Single Republican Vote.

Created the Balanced Budget Act of 1997.

Dedicated the Surplus to Save Social Security and Reduce the National Debt.
He also repeatedly vetoed large Republican tax cut bills that would have jeopardized our nation's fiscal discipline.

Raised the Minimum Wage. In 1996, President Clinton and Vice President Gore fought for and won a 90-cent per hour increase in the minimum wage, helping 10 million workers.

Created the E-Rate. With the leadership of Vice President Gore, the Telecommunications Act contained the E-Rate initiative, which provides low-cost Internet connections for schools, libraries, rural health clinics and hospitals. More than 80% of U.S. public schools have benefited from the E-rate, which has helped connect 30 million children and up to 47,000 schools and libraries to the Internet.

Paved the Way for Electronic Commerce. President Clinton fought to eliminate legal barriers to using electronic technology to form and sign contracts, collect and store documents, and send and receive notices and disclosures, while ensuring that consumers on-line have the same protections that they have in the paper world. He signed the Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act on June 30, 2000.

Not to mention welfare reform, the clean air act, preserving our national forests and most likely the best foreign policies ever.

Yep, Clinton had nothing to do with the best economy in history.
nice reading

europe and canada like him because he bought into their ultra-socialistic ideals. I also call it 'head under the sand' or 'sweep dirt under the carpet' politics.

Whether you like bush or not, without guys like him, you wouldnt have the freedom to be a happy wanderer dumbass that you are.

Terrorists dont care about democrats and republicans. Both groups are controlled by zionists.

They see westerners as lazy, fat, weak, afraid to fight, afraid of bloodshed.

All they understand is force, not hippie western thinking.

Hey Dickless I have a newsflash for ya, 9-11 happened on Bush's watch. So please enlighten us with your infinite wisdom on why Bush not only did nothing to prevent the attack but actually allowed it to happen. Please explain why your president read childrens books a half hour into the attack. And why you're at it please explain why Bush allowed the bin laden family to fly out of the country hours after the attack.

So do you honestly think bin laden decided one day to just bomb the towers on bush's watch? Please...

Bin laden hit them in 93 and anyone who knows anything knows if bin laden fails the first time he usually goes for a second round.

So between 1993 and 2000 what did Clinton do to prevent bin laden from hitting the towers again? He did nothing. He was more concerned with his personal life and then later his problems at home (usa) which were a direct cause of his personal life.

Bush was not in office a full 12 months when the towers went down.

Wrong again. Clinton was actually the first president to introduce anti-terrorist bills. When taking office the Bush admin called Clinton 'obsessed with terrorism'.

Here's a perfect example of what Clinton tried to do about terrorism:

Bill Clinton increased the FBI's counterterrorism budget by almost 400 percent after World Trade Center bombing, from $78.5 million in 1993 to $301.2 million in 1999.

Additionally the number of FBI agents devoted full-time to counterterrorism increased, from 550 in 1993 to 1,383 in 1999.

More Here:

http://www.oreilly-sucks.com/News/oreillylies.htm

As Mr. Clinton prepared his re-election bid in 1996, the administration made several crucial decisions. Recognizing the growing significance of Mr. bin Laden, the C.I.A. created a virtual station, code-named Alex, to track his activities around the world.

<snip>

In the years after the embassy bombings, the Clinton administration significantly stepped up its efforts to destroy Al Qaeda, targeting its finances, plotting military strikes to wipe out its leadership and prosecuting its members for the bombings and other crimes. "From August 1998, bin Laden was Enemy No. 1," Mr. Berger said.

<snip>

Still, the fight against Al Qaeda gained new, high-level attention after the embassy attacks, present and former officials say. Between 1998 and 2000, the "Small Group" of the Cabinet-rank principals involved in national security met almost every week on terrorism, and the Counterterrorism Security Group, led by Mr. Clarke, met two or three times a week, officials said.

<snip>

President Clinton also ordered a more aggressive program of covert action, signing an intelligence order that allowed him to use lethal force against Mr. bin Laden. Later, this was expanded to include as many as a dozen of his top lieutenants, officials said.

Much, Much, More Here:

Republicans Watered Down 1996 Clinton Anti-Terrorism Bill

7-30-1996, WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President Clinton urged Congress Tuesday to act swiftly in developing anti-terrorism legislation before its August recess.

"We need to keep this country together right now. We need to focus on this terrorism issue," Clinton said during a White House news conference.

But while the president pushed for quick legislation, Republican lawmakers hardened their stance against some of the proposed anti-terrorism measures.

<snip>

The Republicans also dropped the additional wire-tap authority the Clinton administration wanted. U.S. Attorney general Janet Reno had asked for "multi-point" tapping of suspected
terrorists, who may be using advanced technology to outpace authorities.

Rep. Charles Schumer, D-New York, said technology is giving criminals an advantage. "What the terrorists do is they take one cellular phone, use the number for a few days, throw it out and use a different phone with a different number," he said. "All we are saying is tap the person, not the phone number."

True, but the overwhelming evidence is at the most Bush knew about 9/11 and purposely ignored it or at the very least was warned and did not take it seriously.

"CBS reporter David Martin revealed that weeks before the attacks, the CIA had warned Bush personally of Osama Bin Laden?s intent to use hijacked planes as missiles. That followed the damaging exposure by The Associated Press?s John Solomon of a pre-9/11 FBI memo from an officer in Phoenix warning of suspicious Middle Eastern men training at flight schools?a warning that went unheeded."
http://www.inthesetimes.com/comments.php?id=340_0_1_0_C

"...the briefing given to the president a month before the suicide hijackings included recent intelligence that al-Qaida was planning to send operatives to the United States to carry out an attack using high explosives."
http://www.sunspot.net/business/nati...ness-headlines

"U.S. intelligence agencies received many more indications than previously disclosed that Osama bin Laden's terrorist network was planning imminent "spectacular" attacks in the summer of 2001 aimed at inflicting mass casualties."
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...2002Sep18.html

"President Bush's daily intelligence briefings in the weeks leading up to the September 11 terror attacks included a warning of the possibility that Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda network would attempt to hijack a U.S.-based airliner, senior administration officials said Wednesday."
http://www.cnn.com/2002/US/05/15/bus....11/index.html

"They might have been surprised by the ferocity of the attacks, but the highest-ranking members of the George W. Bush administration knew before Sept. 11 that something terrible was going to happen soon."
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/articl.../hsorensen.DTL

"Britain gave President Bush a categorical warning to expect multiple airline hijackings by the al-Qaeda network a month before the September 11 attacks which killed nearly 3000 people and triggered the international war against terrorism."
http://www.sundayherald.com/24822

"The White House said tonight that President Bush had been warned by American intelligence agencies in early August that Osama bin Laden was seeking to hijack aircraft..."
http://www.nytimes.com/2002/05/16/politics/16INQU.html?

Keep avoiding reality and keep blaming Clinton.

By the time Bush got into Office the seeds of bin laden had already been planted. These seeds were sown during the 8 years Clinton was in office. There is no denying that fact.

Get it right, the seed of Bin Laden was planted when Reagan and him were bedfellows and Reagan supplied him with arms and technology.

its logic and common sense. Pets.com is a great example of most of the dot com companies. Terrible business plan, mega millions invested in it, followed by a total collapse. ie a mirage

So when somebody says they want the Clinton economy, I just find it funny because it was built on garbage and accounting scandals.

If you all want to talk about the WORST president... this should be about FDR.

But people just want to bitch, complain, and argue.

Socialist prick.

With that kind of attitude you will end up a sig whore in the long run. Why donate to the help a bill clinton fund when there are plenty of other worth wild causes that could of used that extra grand?

Just admit it you wasted your money lining Bill's pockets. Who's the sucker now?

It's funny to watch all of you whine now.

Socialistic societies have always failed.

I gather you are all too stupid to learn from past mistakes....

GO FDR!!!

LOL.
