Googleguy posted quite a bit on it on webmastertalk or whatever forum it is he plays on.

Has to do with the domain will retain PR right up until day it is dropped. As soon as it drops and whois data is updated then it is reset to PR0. You dont get any credit for existing links on Google

Are you sure about that or are you just saying things you think might be like that? Do these domains really lose PR or is that just a speculation? I mean I know google is on it, but how do you know? Is PR really the indicator?

I haven't bought expired domains in months now, but generally speaking the approach I used was to register an expired domain and asap put up similiar content to what was on before. Often times, the PR was lost for a week or two. Once the new site was online, you just had to wait a month or so until the next google update and the existing links that stayed out there would be picked up and the PR would be restored. It might take a month or two even, but in general it worked. Granted, I haven't done this in months now.

I've been thinking about buying more expired domains. Maybe I'll hold off for a little while. I've got enough PR running through my network that I can get a new domain to PR4 or 5 pretty effortlessly.

I wonder what kind of domains were affected, as I can tell I only lost 3% or them. All the rest I got the last 12 months have their PR where it was at the time of purchase. So how Google catches them I have no idea, but if PR0 is the indicator then Google is doing a real poor job in my case.

2004 . Sure they claimed they took care of that already last year, but from my own experience I can tell you it wasn't true

However for last 2 weeks 100% of domains have been set to PR0 at the day of their deletion.
