What was the WORST concert you ever saw?

Mine was just this summer:
Neil Young & Crazy Horse Greendale Tour

Horrible stage show with the equivalent of a junior high school sunday school drama going on behind them. Refused to play any hits until the end of about 3 hours of bullshit. Then it was only 3 good songs.

And I love Neil Young music...

Second Worst:
The Spin Doctors, 1996

If you love Neil Young then you should know that Neil doesn't make music for critics, or even his fans, he makes music for himself. And therein lies the core of the man's greatness.

Frank Zappa in the late 80s. That was definitely the worst one I've ever seen.

I agree with you about Neil...

Heres the thing.... I love Neil Young's music, I love his 'fuck you' spirit, and the way he is true to his music and nothing else. However, this Greendale stage show was NOT about the music. I have listened to the album since I saw the show and its really pretty good. It has several awesome songs.

the problem is he put on this HORRIBLE stage show with all these buttfuck actors mouthing his lyrics like a bad high school musical or something. I didn't go to see a bunch of karaoke shit, I went to see Young and Horse.

If they had just dumped the stage show I would have loved it, hits or not.

Quiet Riot when I was an impressionable head-banging teenager in the 80's. Totally incompetent. Even in Terre Haute, In, where there wasn't much else to do, people were leaving the show en masse.

And if you have a nose you can smell that pretentious bullshit a mile off. I can't believe anyone buys into that crap. Is Neil sitting in his basement playing his music to his washing machine? No.

Iron Maiden with Janick Gers (Adrian Smith's replacement) in the early 90s. One of the greatest 80s metal bands with a no-talent glam rocker, spinning, twirling, kicking, and mucking up everything. It wasn't hard to see why they fell so hard. Ugh...

The Canadian version of the band from that show "Pop Stars". I think they were called Eden's Crush or something. Had to take my daughter to see them in London. I can actually remember thinking to myself "Hey, I think I can reach that bitch with this cup filled with pop... should I throw it at her?"

Even worse was the opening band, a Canadian boy band that lip synced the whole time. One of them was actually fat. First time I seen a boy band that had a fat guy in it.

At least the Pop Stars had the decency to sing their songs instead of lip syncing like those fat fucks in the boy band.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot:
Allana Miles (sp?) opened up for Robert Plant in a stadium concert in 1989... remember her... Black Velvet.... Just horrible.

Anyway, she was kindof getting booed cause she sucked so much and she was trying to work up the crowd back in her favor by being all cool and sexy and leaning out over the edge of the stage and she wound up actually falling off the stage and catching herself on a bunch of cables and dangling from the side of the stage... had to be helped down by stage hands.

Everyone was laughing at her. pretty sad.

Dave fucking Mathews.

I got talked into going to his concert by a bunch of friends one New Years Eve. Even though I dig heavier music, I figured what the fuck, it could'nt be all that bad. Plus I was trying to tag this hot chick who was a big Mathews fan and thought it was so cool I was going with her.

Most boring fucking shit I have ever seen in my entire life. I sat there all night smoking joint after joint thinking "This guy has got to move from behind that microphone at least once".

I almost want to puke just thinking about it.

That's easy. Fucking Eddie Money at the Little River Rock fest 4 years ago. I love the guy's music but he was a complete jackass up there, mr "love me love my ego" personified. After the crowd booed his self-centered antics he pissed all over some sound equipment backstage and left.

What a twit.

You must have seen him on a bad night. I've seen him 3 times in the last 16 months and each time he puts on a damn good show. If you aren't into the music of the band you are going to watch then most likely you are not going to have a good time.

My worst concert: Marilyn Manson at the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds. I got a job doing security for concerts because I got to see shows for free and usually got to get very close to the stage. The Lt. Governor of Oklahoma was a major bitch with a serious religious attitude. She tried everything she could to get the concert cancelled. The night of the concert the show started and after about 3 songs State Police officers started making themselves known to all the security guys (there were about 75 of us) and ordered us to come with them to a room behind the stage, leaving nobody doing security. Turns out that the Lt. Governor was able to find an old law requiring unarmed security guards to go thru a class and be licensed (when we were hired we were told we only need a temporary unarmed security license which I went downtown and got for $30). We all (except for 3 or 4 guys who had actual security licenses) had to turn our security shirts inside-out and leave the building. While we were leaving the crowd started going nuts since there was no security and the police were getting the fuck out of there because they didn't want to be stuck in a building with a massive mob of wild goth kids. I snuck off from the group and stood in the back of the crowd watching the show for a while. Things got out of hand quickly and after a while fights were breaking out and people were getting hurt. A football player for the Sooners ended up in a clear area in the middle of the crowd and started daring people to attack him. Probably 10 guys in a row went in and each one of them left bleeding and bruised. The whole place was chaos and yet the show continued. When it finally ended the lights came on and the police came back in and started herding everyone out. Outside there was a line of ambulances, cop cars, firetrucks, and news vans. Reporters were everywhere interviewing people coming out and parents who had heard of the riot and were crying their eyes out looking for their kids. One of the reporters noticed my inside out security shirt and started asking me shit like why did I not help stop the mob (yeah, right!).
The next day the Lt. Governor was quoted as saying that the security guards (us) were directly responsible for the damage and injuries because we let it happen and that they only removed us AFTER the riot started (which was pure bullshit).

It was a very intense experience and Marilyn Manson was definately into it because he was rocking his ass off while he watched it all happen. One of the best performances I have seen in a long time.

Why did it suck? Because I didn't get paid for the job since we didn't work the whole show!

The Beatles on stage in my local movie theater around '63 or '64... two hours of non-stop screaming... couldn't hear a note and no "shows" in those days: just 4 guys on a stage.

Weird thing about Dave Matthews. Either people love him or hate him. There's few that are in the middle about his music.

Only been to one and it sucked. Went to see Oasis pleay live in Glasgow. Half way into the concert their lead singer - Liam Gallacher - walked off stage coz some ashole threw a bottle in the air but it landed on stage next to him.

They just left, I'd paid $60 for my ticket to hear 5 songs

Going to see Justin Timberlake next month with my girlfriend.

saw Traffic in the late 60s, came on 2 hours late, so stoned they could stand and at one poing they all sterted to play a different song.

It was at the Newcastle Festival 3 days of music, was Free's second live gig and they were worth the whole thing.

They are back and better than ever. The official Motorhead/Dio/Maiden Tour ended, but Maiden have added a shitload of US Dates starting in late January. Catch a show if they are near you. Its well worth it.

I went to the opening of the Xtreme Games in Brisbane, Australia. An Australian hardcore band called Toe to Toe were playing for the opening. They were okay. Well, as far as Australian hardcore goes, i guess. But there were about 8 people in the "mosh pit"

Best concert i've been to. Hmm. Bruce Springsteen. What a showman.

The Pogues without Shane McGowan... in Utrecht

Although Joe Strummer (he rest in peace) was a good substitute the concert never got the skill WITH Shane...

And he was lying down on the floor most of the time...

Easily the time I had to go to my college auditorium to be a warm body when Coolio played there in 1995. The place was less than half sold out, and they needed people to stand there for free so his feelings weren't hurt. He was totally intoxicated, and didn't stay long thankfully!
