Buy authentic, much better IMO.
Amen sista- well said. i have a a bunch of Prada purses, shoes, clothes and a wallet. i guess i could have hunted down some knockoffs- but i like the quality of the authentic stuff i have.
Gucci- i only have purses and shoes (no clothing) but still i find the style and quality to be what i want.
Now for LV- its simple the LV is never upside down and does not run into the seems. I have a 2 LV purses at home and believe that is the easiest way to determine if their real or fakies.

I wear $50 jeans and $40 button-downs. Spending that much money on clothes just seems ridiculous to me. If you're pulling big numbers, sure, why not. But a good chunk of the people who wear that crap are trying to sport an image.

LOL I can mix trash with class just fine LOL I can afford to buy those things and so I do, however, if it was image I was worried about I would stop swearing like a trucker ;))

well the reason to buy the real thing is the quality of them. I got my first gucci bag when I was 12 or 13 and I carried the damn thing for nearly ten years. If you average out the cost of it I think it would have been about $30 per year for purse expense. A lot of women go through three or four cheaper bags a year at anywhere from $10 to $50 bucks a pop. Now, it's a lot more economical to actually buy the good stuff. Same thing with my Coach and Luis Vuitton bags, I carried both of them for several years each. Basically until I was tired of them. Now, I give my retired coach and gucci bags to my 11 year old and if she sees a new one that she wants I buy a knock off for her. She can have the real stuff when i'm convinced she can appreciate the value of it.

Or better yet, when she can buy it herself.:thumbsup

My wife has a real bag. Her cousin has the same one, but fake. Paid $380 for it (the real was $1000). The straps on my wifes have "worn in" some and are darker from the wear. The ones on her cousins bag look the same color as the day she bought it...

$380 for a fake bag seems expensive to me

50 fake bags :)

bauhaus 12-03-2003 01:04 PM

there are fakes and then there are good fakes...

unless you guys are much more into leather quality and fabric feel then you let on.... there is almost no detectable difference between a real and a fake.

Sure I am not saying a $10 prada purse is the same quality as a $1600 one... but once you start to deal in higher end merchandise including fakes...you would hard pressed to find the differences.

All the 'tell tale' signs you guys mentioned above are all incorporated into the higher end fakes...including working prada swipe cards (unless you swipe them at a prada boutique..lol)

Just buy what you buy and use it....period. then when you get sick of it sell it on ebay....make back your money and move on to whatever else you need.

And even when you buy vintage fakes get outta control.... bought a fake hermes kelly bag last week for my wife $1500 usd... lol missing the handle and stains on the inside of the bag its a 40yr old fake even.... real ones go for $25-40k so a $1500 fake that needs work keeps her happy.

My wife has DOZENS of purses, at least one for every outfit combination she has. That's why she buys the fake bags. Each bag gets used only a few times per year so they last forever. Much more economical than buying the real thing.

However, if she was going to use one for an everyday bag it might make sense to buy a real one because of the quality of construction.

If you want fake bags, go to Canal Street in Chinatown.

There are tons of stores there selling knock offs of every major designer you can think of. Typically, you pay $20 to $30 per bag.

My wife loves to buy the fakes becuase they look just like the real thing for a fraction of the cost. She likes to look stylish but think's it's stupid to pay $500 for a purse no matter how nice it is.

BTW, when we were there, the cops were busting some of the merchants selling the fake bags. It was hilarious watching all the merchants scrambling to close their stores and hide the bags when the cops came around. One store we went into actually had a secret room behind a wall in the back of the store where he kept all the "good stuff." No shit! It was like doing a drug deal.

In case you didn't know, it is ILLEGAL to sell knock offs of designer bags. That's why you have to be very careful when you buy on the Net. You can't expect to get your money back because you are already buying an illegal product.

hahaha! We were inside one of the places on Canal Street and they actually shut the door (garage door looking thing) for about 10 minutes. It freaked us out. none of the ladies spoke good English so we didn't know what was going on. We learned later that it was because there were police busts in the area.

Sounds like some of the Rolex Spams I get. a cheap knock off is $100-400 and a Good swiss knock off is $1-3k.

what the hell? If you are going to spend $3k on a rolex, buy the real fucking thing.. just get a cheaper model.

My watch was around $8k, the swiss fake was $2750. why would I even dream of buying the fake when it still costs a few grand?

Burridge 12-03-2003 02:25 PM

my god you people are getting raped, $380 for a knockoff?!?!

try $40 bucks on canal street :1orglaugh

amber438 12-03-2003 05:31 PM

The new LV's (white with colored letters, black with colored letters) have red fabric interior..not the usual light brown/tan..
And there is a waiting list for months for them

HEARTBREAKER 12-03-2003 06:08 PM

it's easy...if you buy to LV shop that sells LV stuff exclusively then you know it's real but if you buy it in a store that sells different things, then you know it's fake!!!:thumbsup

The world is a twisted place.

Like getting a new Cobra Roadster Replica for $45,000-$55,000. Or getting the real deal for $175,000.

I've seen people put $50,000 into shitty Ferrari replicas based on Fieros. No point...

Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, Cartier...

Some people can tell right away and some can't.
Even of you get a so called good copy the leather is no where near the same quality.
The real thing will last and last, why buy a copy that you have to keep replacing.

The real thing makes you feel better rather than walking round being a WANNA BE!
