Looking for an appartment in manhattan
Know of any good sites that show details on each rooms, etc?
I tried appartments.com and homes.com.. not too much there.. Also, for you NYC folk, what street is a good street to live on in manhatten, I dont want to be in the ghetto, but i also dont really want to spend more then 2,500/month for it.. but if need be, i can...

just so you know, in real life, to have that much space in an apartment like sienfeld you'd drop alot more than 2500/month
![]() either way, you can do pretty good with 2000/month i don't know of any good sites, but try checking out the newspapers of nyc new york times, daily news, and so on. if you wanna stay safe, nice hood, richer, than aim towards midtown, 30s to 80s, closer to central park. |

We used the site to find a short term rental last year. They have *tons* of selection. You can get something for $2500, but it will be small. As far as area goes, it depends on what you want. We ended up in SoHo for 2 months, and had a blast; a million things to do at anytime. If you want to step out your front door in the evening right into the action, look at the Greenwich Village/SoHo/Tribeca/Chelsea area. Also some good deals in the East Village, but watch some areas there. I'm sure some of the locals on this board can point you in the right direction.

All of Manhattan is safe under 96th street. Union Square is the hottest area to live in if you are between 25 and 35. If you are under 25 then under 14th street is for you. Battery Park city is also probably the nicest neighborhood next to Central Park South. I lived down there for a while, you can't beat it. I also lived on CPS and women drop their panties when they come over your house bit the horse shit smell starts to get to you after a while.

We took a tour when visiting NYC and the tour guide mentioned a place like that would be closer to $5-8k/mo if not more depending on your location. If you want a big place on top of the chinese butcher shop in chinatown you might be able to get a good deal!

Best place to find an apartment in ny
www.craigslist.com areas in ny you can live in, all safe expensive and never slummy , there isnt really slummy area in manhattan ny and ca rental costs are the only ones in the us still going up, lower east side- artsy friendly, bars are full of starving writers upper east side- friendly party types upper 20,s usually have PHD (pappa has dough) upper west side- mostly professional singles tribeca-east village- west village- mostly lofts , used to be artsy now more student types up and coming neighborhood with really nice apt is like the west side highway all redone with the new trump buildings. good deals can still be found in battery park city big new apts but right near wtc and the financial area is still dead for residential and you can get great deals there and if all else fails you can always live on the- A TRAIN- |
