I dont know how it was where you were raised, but lots of us who live/lived in some "urban areas" know from experience - you dont just dont stick your nose in random business. I wasn't exactly raised in a sheltered environment. I also spent over a year homeless. The real kind of homeless with shelters and soup kitchens and steam grates and the whole nine yards. My first home after getting off the streets and out of the shelter was on the near east side of Cleveland. Not in the projects, though. They were one whole street over. It's not a matter of understanding; sometimes it's worth it to stick your nose in. In this case there had already been two altercations with no knives or guns, so that excuse is even weaker than usual.

I'm not telling other people how to live but I think it's very telling that with all the hardass motherfuckers we seem to have around here, no one stepped in.
