Interesting thought to share with all of us....thank you :) It's nice to see that women aren't the only ones that get leveled with the 'biological clock' bit alone. But, maybe it isn't entirely a biological process. During most of my 20s I honestly thought that I never really wanted to have kids -- hence the dual-use for condoms.

But, the closer I got to my 30s the more I realized that much of my desire to delay having kids was based on a lot of pragmatic issues -- things like having a child with someone out of love and want....and not need; being financially stable enough to support my child even if it was on my own; and having enough of my own shit together, in terms of personal and intellectual development, that I could give my child the happiest, healthiest mom possible.

The more those things solidify for me...the more 'ready', at least mentally, I become with the whole idea.

Whether people are single or married, long term relationship or not, if both people having sex aren't ready for children or don't want them period, use all the contraceptives you can. The last thing the world needs is more kids growing up with resentful parents or missing one of their parents.

I think women and men both have pre-middle age crisis anxiety in their 30s. They are still young enough to have time, but see their 40s right down the road. By the time people are in their mid to late 30s, they start feeling the pressure to settle down in their lives. The truth is though, some people just aren't meant to be in a monogamous relationship and/or reproduce. Somewhere along the line, some people came to the conclusion that it was their obligation to bring more kids into this world. Not true at all. Some people just wouldn't make good parents and there's nothing wrong with that.

I used to want to get married and have kids by my mid 20s. That's how I was raised to believe what is normal. But now that I'm 23, I don't know if I'll even get married, much less have kids. Maybe I'll feel differently in my 30s, but the most important thing is to be content with your life either way... after that, any relationship or child could only enhance what's already great :)
