who here uses aol

how many people here use aol? i will speak up to say that i am, but how many of you all still own a @aol.com address? it's ok to come out of the closet and admit that you still use the service.

Everyone should use AOL. It's so easy to use, no wonder it's #1.

6 years ago I used AOL as my ISP. Good old AO Hell...lol aka Newbie Central. Great source of virgin traffic assuming you can avoid their antispam procedures/mechanisms.

yea i think it was about 8 years for me when i had to use aol as an isp. Learned a lot starting from a newbie on aol. Plenty of sources of traffic like you said. Their spam/warez policy is pathetic. Their catwatch team isnt even what it used to be. Good thing i dont have them anymore as a primary isp.

for email? hell I like yahoo's filters...their bulk folder catches about 95% + of my spam, two clicks and it's all gone...

or, if I'm researching new subject lines or BP hosting, it's a great source of study material ;-)

j/k...spam is evil....

AOL is a breeding ground for spammers. Most start young in their teens and turn pro in their early 20's.

I never had any problems with AOL, and I still use it through my DSL. Back in the day everyone would say AOL's connections sucked, but I was staying logged onto AOL dialup for a week at a time without losing my connection. My DSL normally can't even do that.

The $15 BYOA plan is worth their radio player alone to me. Pretty high quality bitrate compared to everything else out there.

You can also download AOL communicator to use for email instead of the AOL program. Also has a standalone radio player.

I don't think AOL sucks. You can do anything with it you can do on a bare bones ISP, and it's worth using over a DSL line too.
