Hi guys,

I am thinking of going to college and upgrade my skills on design & programming. I have checked out a college & they charge 14, 000 CAD for a 1 year full time course. What do you guys think about the price? I find it to be very expensive.... If anyone knows any cheaper schools in Montreal, please let me know.

You gotta do some research man, find out what they offer and find out how good they are.. Some places may only charge 5k, but they may fucking suck...

Are you planning on working full time for someone after graduation? Are you currently working for someone or self-employed now?

I am self employed now for the past 4 years, just need to improve my skills, thats if I have any

Teach yourself off the net, look at what others have done and do that. There are a million tuturials out there on the net, your going to have to teach yourself doing "homework" on this stuff anyways, you just won't have some overpriced teacher to hold your hand during the first step

$14,000 waste of money for a 1 year course. I had friends who did 2 years and they came out knowing a little about everything but not everything about 1 thing. so they knew adobe and dreamweaver but only enough that they then had to do heaps of tutuorials to learn how to be good.

$14K a year is expensive?

Try going to DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana here for $21,000 a quarter, one of the top 10 schools for education in the USA

I have a friend who went to design school here in Montreal. I think he went to CDI. When I asked him advice on a good design school, he told me I was better off just buying the books and teaching myself.

But the books and learn your self. everyone that I know that got a degree in programming, had to learn how toprogram after they got out of school. You will learn some, but not what you need. The books that they have you buy are already outdated by the time you get home!
