Good Morning GFY!
It's the only place I know of that you can always say good morning anytime day or night and it's a good morning somewhere in the world.
Is that not cool? I've been up all night.. for the past few.. weeks? Lol... as I've discovered a new passion that for an old man like me is better than sex, and that's building the baddest, fastest, most beautiful custom built boxes in the world. I am the Jesse James of custom box building and have never had more fun and more pain at the same time and i fucking love it!!!! Let me explain... Ever since the earliest days of Sofware Monster BBS I have built and maintained my own network and machines. No big deal but it was pretty cool... and ended up being one hell of a windows bbs system (anybody remember Excal?) I had all the custom door plugins for it and a great subscriber base. It was also the first platform that I offered Intenret service at the time here and that's how I became the first registered official Internet service provider in Hall County. Back then they didn't even have a classification for one on the books! Hehe.. So from now till then or then till now you know something you never knew before!!!! I think for sure my age has been given away here. ;-) Anyway... I forget when... oh yes.. back when I was 18 I was a commercial artist. I did giant sized custom logo applications for places like California Concepts Haircutting Salons, Malls, Apartments etc... I did rather large scale shit lol... but then I lost the love for it and gave it up for good. None of my existing works that I know of remain today except maybe a few pictures of them and some stuff my sister has. It started for fun, ended up being a passion (i'd do em for free, stay up all night drinking eagle rare till the job was done next morning) No job ever took more than 1 overnight session to complete which was pretty cool. (Not when I was starting, some took weeks!) But when I went commercial I did so many everybody wanted one and I couldn't keep up .. lost inspiration, passion, original concept and even though I could have made ooodles of cash continuing I laid the brush down and to this day have never picked one up again. Fuck it, that's ancient history. Anyway.. through all these years of mainaining my boxes I did absolutely everything except two things. 1. Replace Motherboards 2. Replace CPU's Wasn't interested, didn't know anything about it, I would just grab my box, seatbelt it to the backseat and take it up to my buddy (was a bouncer when I was a strip club dj) Fred up the road here in Clermont and he'd take care of it for me while we'd toast a fatty. So anyway... bad luck struck the dokkster. I lost six of 12 machines after a lightning strike and was able to limp barely along for a while but I never could get hold of Fred and couldn't get anybody else to help me so *gasp*. I replaced my first motherboard and cpu.. and fan.. and heatsink.. then starting putting them in cases.. then started putting them in custom cases. Then I started putting in custom components, the best of the best. Ball bearing brushless fans, latest chipsets, the best boards for overclocking, custom coolers from people like thermaltake, special power supplies like from pc power and cooling and processors from AMD and Intel.. single and double boards. Right now I'm building one with dual Dual Xeon IntelE7501's on an Asus board with Dual Gigabit LAN, the works. I'll post a pic up here when it's done. Have a gofuckourself week! |

Yeah, I went the same route... only a few years before that. DESQview multi-tasking BBS running on DOS, multiple modems attached to a 12 serial port card, the works back then.
Only I didn't make a freaking penny on that stuff... but it was just fun being able to host all that, just to say that you could. Doing the commercial design off of some some application that ran on GEM (I forget the program I used, but it kicked-ass for the time), and being 19 years old and making mint just because I was the only geek in town... priceless back in '88. I know the feeling, bro ![]() |

Yeah, it's interesting to think that back in '88 I was 11 years old, and was really into the BBS's with my 2400 baud modem and Procom client on my 8088... yet come 1995-1997 during the peak of porn profits I was completely absent of this world. Considering my involvment in porn as a surfer, I would have imagined I'd see something... a webmaster link somewhere perhaps? Apparently none of this caught my attention. I'm kicking myself for sure.
