i didnt send in my taxes until the end of june and havent got any response yet. i was wondering if anyone has any similar experience or any idea when i could expect something from the IRS. thanks

I file late almost every year. Once I filed for 5 years in one day. That time I owed a shitload of money but they were really quite nice about it and set up an easy payment plan. They waived all kinds of penalties and shit just for the asking and were really helpful about the whole process. They really don't get too worked up about late filing, just don't cheat.

Now state income taxes, that is another story. Those pricks are brutal to deal with so try to keep a low profile with them. Almost went to jail over that.

damn its gonna be a long time before you get anything back from them. im just anxious cause they owe me a few grand and i was hoping to have it before christmas...

If you filed in June you should have it by now. They have a hotline you can call to determine the status of your return, might want to try that.

yeah for the hotline you need to know the exact dollar amount of the refund, unfortunatly i have n idea where my copy of my tax forms are. its impossible to get a human on the phone, all there is is the voicemail system.

so your expenses are greater then your income? usually you get a return when you send the IRS to much money.

They have to exceed a certain percentage of your income. Make sure you add up everything, you might surprise yourself on that one.

You have to have paid it too, just racking up bills doesn't count. $50k should get you there unless you are making a ton of money. Dental bills can be thrown into the mix too if I'm not mistaken.
