All of us are in the adult industry. Most of the evening was spent discussing various aspects of porn.

While my son knew about what I did from the time he was 14, I was never comfortable talking industry talk in front of him, nor was he keen on hearing his mother utter words like 'blow job', 'cock', and other descriptive phrases.

Ian was more than welcome to come. I voted 'no' on bringing children to an adult dinner. My kid is grown. I'm ready to have dinner without children.

    Nothing personal.

Personally I wouldn't feel comfortable discussing things like "hahahaha" and "blowjob" at El Gaucho. It is a nice place after all.

Raven - you were at our company holiday party last year. My kids as well as a lot of others were there. Did they make you feel uncomfortable?

One thing that is rarely mentioned on the boards is people abusing certain substances. I can understand a little but not to the point that it has you so fucked up that you can not do business or even enjoy other parts of the show. Stay and home if you wanna be a vegetable.

I am not talking about the person who occasionally gets fucked up, I am talking about the idiots who show up drunk/high/or whatever and you never even see them sober.

It's pretty annoying when you have a conversation with somebody and the next day, they don't even recall seeing you. So you have the same conversation again...and guess what? Same story the following day. I don't have time for this shit. I go to these shows to have fun and conduct business, not to waste my time with people who are too stupid to know when they have reached a reasonable limit.

Yes, I got pretty fucked up on Thursday night. The difference is that I still remember what went on, I did not damage anything, and I chose to stay sober once the show started.

The actions and negligence of one specific person at this show has prompted me to cut off all ties with this person from today forward. This is a person that I considered a friend until about 3 days ago. You know who you are so don't be surprised when I do not return your emails, phone calls, or instant messages.

Personally, I am down for starting an industry black list to keep these people away from the shows. Just do not allow them to register, it's that simple. The people who can not act responsibly can make a choice. Grow the fuck up or stay home. Your antics and bullshit are not wanted. Our industry has a bad enough reputation as is.

I would like to thank those of you who attend these events and know how to behave. The majority of the people have a clue but it's amazing how just a few people can fuck things up.

Aaron, I wholeheartedly agree with you. I had a sales person complain to me about people being so fucked up on drugs and booze that they did not remember "deals" discussed the prior night. Then it happened to me.

This is why many professional players no longer go to shows. Or just go to the big Vegas show. I also feel the format of some of the shows are to blame. The LA show reaked of party, little biz from the start. Lens is known flor throwing parties for the kids of the biz. It was promoted that way IMHO. That is why did not send a person.

Unfortunately, I have learned that there are too many idiots in this biz, and things will not change. You are better off staying at home from most of these "conventions" and traveling to see clients on a more personal basis.

You're right. It WAS an informal dinner.

Even still, most of what we talked about was related to our business.

Nothing personal against you or your children.

My opinion stands. I think there's a time and a place for children; and, in my opinion, that night was not appropriate for children.

I would have been uncomfortable, had your kids been there.

You're right...But you did it with a laugh as if it was a joke. It clearly was not. You fell short in the balls department when you tried to play it off to my face but took a different stance with others.

As for me taking myself entirely too seriously and this being a joke....I find it strange that multiple people thought enough about it to bring it to my attention. If it was a joke and no big deal then why in the hell did you feel the need to discuss it with several people?

I personally do take it seriously. And as you can see, I have no problem whatsoever bringing your attention to it.

You posted on Oprano and then talked shit about me at an industry event. Call you? WTF is that? You took it to the boards originally.

I also had a problem with the ass that you made of yourself in Phoenix. Would you like me to call you about that too? Just because the average person in this business is afraid to post or say anything bad about the almighty Ian does not mean that I am. I like your company, and I even like you...I just don't like you damaging my rep because I had the common sense to not allow children to an adult gathering.

For the record...I get all the attention I want and them some as is. You are pissed that I am bringing this attention to you NOT because it is of the attention it is bring to me. Deal with it. Maybe next time you will think twice before you act like a child.

"Adult webmaster private dinner." Read that carefully. Lets also note that there was a specific RSVP timeframe and when your initial RSVP was done, no kids were included. The reservations were booked and after all that I went through to get them done, I was not about to change them for anybody. Not God, not you, and certainly not for kids. Hello? ADULT WEBMASTERS. Run a search about children at adult events then come back here and spew that bullshit some more.

This is becoming something it shouldn't be. I wasn't upset about being told not to go. I was joking about calling Aaron a "kid hater." Maybe it was a stupid joke. I never thought his feellings would be hurt and this would upset him so much.

              NO BIG DEAL!

Funny thing is I am meeting a biz associate there for dinner tonight. I will ask them if it is an appropriate place for kids or not.

Well my 2 cents on the subject is this....

There are many companies in this industry that purposefully hire people that are wild and crazy. The reason for this is because they go to shows and raise eyebrows, they push the envelope. And when webmasters get back from the shows and tell other webmasters what happened at the show they say so and so did this and so and so did that. Then they remember who that wild and crazy person worked for. You know the old saying no advertising is bad advertising. I mean these wild people don't go to seminars or even work their companies booths they just get FUCKED up.

Is this right? Well no and yes... It creates a big problem to poor coordinators like Kayla and Kimmy. But at the same time this creates BUSINESS for other companies that get exposure from these people's antics.

Now I think at Internext and larger shows people CAN get away with this. But at smaller shows (ie. Caracao) you CANNOT get away with this. Fuck man, if you were a jackass in Curacao you better have started looking in the want ads before you came back as you would not have a job when you got back and you would be blackballed from the industry.

Personally I am getting tired of going to shows and seeing the same people getting wild and crazy and acting like fucking children. I am all in favor for having some drinks or even a few joints but dammit we are adults and should behave like it.

We get enough heat for being in the adult industry as it is, we should put our best foot forward to prove ourselves as professionals not children.

                      DH

P.S. I completely agree with Aaron about not allowing that guy to bring his kids. First of all this is a business dinner, do you think Bill Gates brings his kids to his business dinners? Seconds of all our business is of an adult nature, do you want your kids to hear us talking about cumshots and anal? Common man!

Thanks for the support Brad. I would like to say this though:

The LA Webmaster Access show was great. I got a lot of business done and the parties were nice...I particularly loved Gotham Hall.

I would not hesitate to go to another one of these shows.

Read the log between Carol and I. I was quite specific that I needed a 100% accurate headcount. The fact that they were children was not the driving factor in the decision but at the same time, it would not have been appropriate for them to be there.
