So basically you say: "Stop crying, use filters"
But said filters are worthless?
Note that as a disclaimer, I get barely any spam, except for in an old hotmail account I use specifically for the purpose of registering for things I KNOW will spam me..so Im not an anti by any means. Just pointing out what seems like a big steaming pile of hypocrisy :Graucho

it was a joke, filters are somewhat easy to get past, but will block a large amount of the spam being sent. like if your trying to block viagara, well dont just block the whole work block "agra", as well. its not really in any words in common usage, and if you look at the subjects and such used to spam viagra(at least the ones in my inbox) a lot of them only change the first compile letters. kind of like this "RE:FWD:Order Vi)agra. From Home" many spammers use the same tricks to slip past filters. as most are aiming at getting past filters on the server rather then the inbox.
like blocks against foreign domains that no one you would be talking to might be using. and if your an admin you have even great abilities to block based on broader criteria. if youve been on aol lately, it goes to show that a little bit of thought can do a lot to block spam. very little spam sent externally to aol is getting into inboxs. postfix for one also has many great ways to filter out spam if one doesnt want it.
i mail. but its very clean. i guess i agree that the really bad proxy spammers, and forgers are bullshit, and im glad thats being put to an end. but i still think that spam really isnt that bad of an issue that some make it out to be. why isnt yahoo and hotmail or any of the other companies on the forefront of anti-spam legislation? in fact i seem to recall some of them spoke out against many of the past anti-spam initiatives that have been brought up in the past. because its really not that big of an issue. its fairly easily combatted with a little know how. there are many things in life that wont go away. that also must be combatted in this life. there are lots of anti spam software and such out there that really do work effectly. i think mail delivery for all spammers is down across the board. which goes to show that it is working effectly. its just that there are more and more spammers popping up daily because they think its easy money, just like this industry.
i guess i just dont like anyone whining enough to thier government about anything to create more laws. its like they cant take care of themselfs so they bitch to thier government to change it rather then getting off thier asses and doing something about themselfs. they would rather just sit back and let someone else fight thier battles for them. governments should govern not rule.
with all the joblessness in the IT sectors. you could look at it like spammers are creating jobs for jobless IT people(j/k)
