Best 4-Door Truck?

I'm thinking about getting a pickup to tow the imminent ski boat...
I want a 4-door (king cab?) to haul the kids, probably a short bed, sexy body, good hauling power, decent fuel efficiency, etc...

Whats the best way to go?

their trucks have a good rep I think, but I've had some REALLY bad experiences with ford cars when I was a lot younger.

My grandmother (who raised me) wouldn't drive anything but a Ford. She had one for 12 years before she got in an accident, then bought another and had it for 6 years before she died, and never ahd any problems.

I love a dodge, but for the money and quality, the Ford 350 is the way to go for a crew Cab.

FORD is the only truck maker. For what its worth the F-series is the best selling truck for the last 22 years consecutively. Blue Oval baby

I had a 2000 Chevy 1-ton king cab dually with a 454 and automatic transmission, used it to pull my race cars with. it was a real nice truck. Ride quality was great, it had plenty of room and was nice and quiet inside.

I traded it in on a Hummer H1 which I kept for three weeks then I traded it off for a 2002 Avalanche. The Avalanche was awesome, had plenty of pulling power and great ride quality and had plenty of room insode also. Plus you could fold the rear seat down and have extra room for stuff in the back, and everything could be locked easily so nothing would get stolen out of the back of the truck.

Yeah, you can't really argue with the Ford Truck record...

Growing up my Dad was always a Chevy man, so between that and my highschool girlfriend's Ford Probe melting down on her and constantly shedding body parts at random (interior AND exterior) I have a bad association with Fords.

Good to hear from some fans... time to test drive!

Ford's rock but if you want fuel efficiency and not a diesel, get a fuckin' Toyota Tundra. Those things have BALLS.

However, if you have the $$$, get a fuckin' Ford 350 Diesel.

First off the Probe is a mazda product. Lot of foreign influence went into that junk, so set that aside. If you want a "truck" buy a FORD

My Dad, (the chevy man) just bought an avalanche last year and absolutely loves it. I must admit it is a sweet ride. I don't love the excessive trim, but it has some really nice features and is really roomy.

I hear ya man... the mazda engine actually held up very well, but the body was one headache after another. Basically that car was a piece of shit from the word go.

I'm definitely going to test drive some FORDs...

The Tacoma is the baby brother of the Tundra. The Tundra is the workhorse of the family. Granted, it IS only a 1/2 ton truck, but you wouldn't know by the way it performs.

Veteran's Day, whats the minimum power/package you would recommend for hauling a modest power boat (say 21' ski boat for example)?

thanx!

I just bought an 03 tundra limited stepside access cab last month, and i love it.

04 is the first year for the crew cab, the new crew cabs just hit the dealerships this month.

the baseline will more than likely come with the venerable 351 windsor or better yet they may have implemented the 281 inch 4.6 which replaced the 302 inch 5.0 motor the stangs and crown vic cop cars used. The trans package will consist of a nice mushy 4 speed AOD-E which is the overdrive auto (electronic). This package will do ya fine or if you are talkin F350 which for your needs is probably overkill. Then again I dont know your budget. Yes I build big block ford motors for Drag race teams across the country. Thats how I know

The Nissan Titan is gonna kick some ass.
Here's Car and Drivers latest article:
http://caranddriver.com/article.asp?...rticle_id=7272

"In fact, our 5030-pound Titan clobbered 60 mph in 6.9 seconds. That?s 0.9 second quicker than either a Dodge Ram 2500 Quad Cab with a 345-horse Hemi or a GMC Sierra Denali with a 325-hp, 6.0-liter Vortec V-8?two of our favorite trucks."

It also won "2004 Pickup Truck of the Year" from Four Wheeler Magazine.

You can go to nissanusa.com for specs, pics, and some comparisons.

The Tundras rock, although I've always been more of a Tacoma fan.
