Isn't today the IMPA's 1st day in court?

I'm anxiously awaiting details of the day.

I'm sure it'll be mainly preliminary stuff but this is going to be a very interesting and IMPORTANT lawsuit for all of us - wish we had a GFY reporter in there!!

my fingers, toes and boobies are all crossed lol

The difference is a n00b now should know better to put up movies on a site unless they plan on donating to IMPA and FTPF their fare sahre and helping to fight it, if your not then a n00b shouldn't throw up movies just because they feel that IMPA will win for them, thats just selfish and greedy.

Why would they hand out money to or help to those that don't care to even donate to the cause? Thats stupid!!!

My gut feeling is that this case may not have the potential to save this industry from Acacia at the level some people here believe.

I hope I am wrong though.

I've read that this case could cost them up to $3million total. I assume they are basically splitting the cost between them. Am I wrong in thinking that all of those mega-rich companies probably have enough $ to fight this case several times over? Really, are the donations necessary?

It looks like some *still* understand the whole case and what the results will be for the whole industry. Maybe reading further than the first three words or lines of a post might have helped that.

First of all... The IMPA is not in court with Acacia...

The defendants that are being sued by Acacia are in court today.

I don't think anything of note is going to be happening. I think today is about getting the judge up to speed on what the case is about.

I can certainly say that we don't have the kind of cash it would take to fight this on our own.

In the V-chip case, where Acacia lost in a summary jugement, the big mainstream television companies came together to fight because this kind of litigation is extremely expensive for even hugely susccessful companies like Sony, etc.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion of what our motives are but I hope everyone will see in the end that our actions speak louder than our words.

thanks for the clarification and I agree, to think the donations are not needed is rediculous to say the least!

If you are in the adult business (heck even those NOT in adult) at ALL you should be behind the IMPA
If you don't know why, you should leave the biz now ... IMHO of course

Vicki: Thanks for the support!

The IMPA at this stage of the game is primarily focused on forecasting these kinds of problems for future issues that might impact the industry as Acacia has.

We don't want to be caught so blindsided in the future. Prevention is the best medicine of all... and we would like to be more proactive in the future.
