Start-->Settings-->Control Panel--> Internet Options-->Connections
Hit your Lan button, then make sure NOTHING is marked off, press apply and enjoy. Many dialers that auto dl without you knowing on a T3 (Im on a T1) will auto click the first box so your computer will look for the first connection it can find. The dialer. When your computer cant find a modem for 56k, it trys to detect proxy settings over and over. |

Unfortunately Windoze has a 1/2 life and as time goes by it just slows down. It's like earwax, it just builds up after a while. The only real solution to this is to reformat your hard drive and reinstall it. First things start loading slow, then suddenly little things start happening (I can't print today, yesterday it was fine now I can't print, etc...) and then one day you are just going to get really pissed on how slow it is and how many things just suddely stopped working and reinstall. Sorry it's not encouraging but that always seem to work for me. If you don't want to reinstall (I understand it's a pain in the ass to reload all your apps and data) I would suggest looking at Mozilla or Firebird. I find the whole Internet browsing thing to be much more enjoyable with Mozilla. HTML and CSS2 renders correctly and I can block pop-ups. Give it a try... Also I've noticed that every time you install a patch from M$ the system gets worse. If you have installed all the "recommended" patches or have the autoupdate feature turned on I would seriously wipe everything clean, reinstall, and only install Service Packs and nothing else.

The new i.e. works just fine on gfy and is super fast. Lots of spyware or malware causes slowdowns, and as you mentioned it only has been the last few weeks you noticed it i think thats the problem.. Dont downgrade to a lower class browser just because someone tells you to. Feel free to try them out, but dont throw out your i.e. or you wont be seeing what all your visitors are. Check your stats , when you start seeing more than 1% of people using a diff browser then its time to check them out, until then they are just playthings for people to toy with . All the above mentioned browsers have security flaws and unless you know what your doing and plan on doing manual fixes all the time i wouldnt suggest using them for anything more than a lark. I hate to help i.e. have the monopoly on the browser industry, but until the others have gone thru some more testing/usage they shouldnt be trusted. |
