As I think others have said here before...
It probably jammed because she was in a non-combat unit, and it was doubtful that she kept it properly maintained.

I think , she was jammed, it had nothing to do with the gun. If you read her own accounts she was on her knees praying. The rest was totally overblown by the gov propaganda apparatus

IF her gun jammed it was due to the face she had not properly maintained it.

The weapons the US military provides its troops are the best. Why do you think we kick everyones ass?

We are 3 generations ahead of any other nation, and will soon be rolling out a bunch of new toys.

However, with all of this, it still takes a human being to operate, and maintain the weapons properly.

When signing a contract to enlist in the armed forces you specifically wave the rights to pursue the military on most levels...

I am not sure if this is the case with a weapon jamming...but I write this with the opinion she cannot sue the Military / U.S. Government

In her Letterman interview, she said she didn't even pick up a weapon during the whole ordeal. I know the dude in her unit who killed a bunch of Iraqis setting up a mortar position had to deal with repeated jams.

It was most likely her fault for it jamming (i.e. not keeping it clean) especially in Iraq where they have dust storms all the time, you get sand in your gun and you dont keep it as clean as possible then don't rely on it to save you life in combat.

All comes down to proper cleaning, I've got the civilian version of what they use, Colt AR-15 and if it's not cleaned that sucker will jam all day long. Now on the other hand, the AK-47 can be beat to hell full of dirt and still fire, obviously it's range is about a 1/3rd that of the AR-15 but it won't jam.

im sure she would not be in this situation if she only knew how to maintain her firearm. most fire arms get jammed because of improper handling, its just that only 1-2% of the errors are combat occurs during actual combat ops.

im sure she did carry reserve pistol during that attack, did she?

The Ferris doctrine dictates that no member of the military can sue the government. At all. No way. Family of military members can sue on thier behalf tho.

Her weapon jammed probably because it was dirty, she was probabbly too fucking lazy to clean it. The M16A2 rifle that is provided to soldiers is an awesome weapon extremmely accurate and easy to maintain. In my opinion she didn't even know how to properly maintain it and did not apply immeditae action when the weapon Jams. I was in the Army for five years, and I can tell you my weapon never failed as long as is cleaned and properly mantained it will always work.. she was just too fucking lazy to care for her wepon....

Now the biggest problem here is failure to recognize work done by the lowest bidders, mixed with particular design modifications that only the US uses. Not to mention that when you get your weapon, generally you are getting one that has been through a few soldiers already and if they did not maintain the weapon correctly you can get burrs and wear spots that will effect the performance of that weapon. Especially when you are working with the aluminum and plastic crap they put on weapons these days. It doesn't need to be dirty it can fuck up just fine on it's own. And if there are any questions as to my sources. Army infantry 6 years and still not brainwashed thank ye very much.

Great so now they give out the weapons that haven't even been broken in yet. Any bets as to how many have frozen safeties?

Some dude here tried to sue Glock because his pistol jammed during a gunfight in a robbery of his pizza joint.

Got tossed out.

Actually you put a couple of hundred rounds through them zeroing and requalifying before you ship out, so, no, the safeties aren't frozen

yeah you are 100% correct. the US Marines buy their guns direct from Uncle Jeb's Wholesale World of Golf and Guns and usually have no clue as to the performance of a weapon before they put it in combat.

Which works wonderfully in theory but you don't take the same weapon from basic to the field. Zeroing takes three to six rounds if you can hold your weapon steady and qualifying is forty rounds if you get it the first time. Couple of ifs thrown in for you, maybe you did get through several hundred though, I scored expert the first time every time. Sometimes despite faulty equipment.

If your weapon malfunctions or is giving you problems, you will notice when you go to the range. Soldiers do not deploy unless qualified with their weapons. I am pretty certain she went to the range and qualified so her weapon must've worked, I looked at her uniform she was marksman qualified which mean she qualified in the lowest range rank 23 hits out of 40. I am certain this girls as many of them did not care properly for her weapon nor fired it. Go back to your field manual days, and you'll find that if your weapon is faulty, is your responsability to report it and replace the faulty parts or weapon....

By your response I see you never saw combat, were u Army Infantry supply? ASS.you were probably the type that fired his weapon only when you would have to go to the range....LOSER.......clean weapon works, dirty weapon= malfunction doesn't take a genious to figure that one out......

Alrighty then, 11 bravo, that's bullet catcher to you. and you're right it is a loser position, it's where the ugly shit happens. Lucky me I wasn't deployed considering the only times I've been hit in training were by friendly fire. I wouldn't trust most of these people with weapons and my unit tied with the special forces for the best score in training. I say it's the brains, because if the equipment is faulty no amount of cleaning in the world is going to help and if it doesn't take a genius to take it into account than what precisely does that make you? Besides the way I see it the ones who keep their weapons clean are merely subscribing to the idea of not being casualties of natural selection.

You are absolutely right, thank you that is exactly the way it is supposed to work but it can be months at a time before you may get that weapon depending on your unit and the current availability. If they take the time to even give a damn.

I've cleaned weapons and have had breech faults immediately afterwards...

Some barrels have too small of a taper to let the shell insert properly, so it catches on the rim of the barrel.

I've even had the Stoner jam up.. and that's the prime choice of the seal team.. Though it's been upgraded since the problems..

If you know what the Stoner is, then you know a nasty ass weapon..

To just throw out, "lazy" is a bit hasty in one's assumtions..
