I just had it done last wednesday and i'm quite happy so far. It's quite wonderful to have 20/20 vision again.

I would just call a few doctor's offices to see who they recommend and go with someone with lots of experience. Ask a milliion questions and see how they respond. There are probably quite a few good doctors in NY to choose from I would imagine.

isnt there a risk of going blind a few years down the road after having this type of surgery?

I would defenitely want to know if thats a long term side effect....no way id risk going blind in 10 years, just to avoid having to wear specs

besides glasses can make one look sophisticated, id hit all those bookworm bitches thats for sure

I've been considering it. If you find a top notch doctor in the area let me know. Not one of those $399 per eye guys

They been doing it in Europe for over 10 years already.

But i know what you mean. Its impossible to tell what could happened in the next 20 years or so. thats why i paid some extra $$ to get the lifetime warrenty.

But shit technology moves at superfast paced. Hell there might be a way to cure blind people in the next 20 years

I had it done and it is the best thing in the world I could have ever done. I've worn pop bottle glasses since 2nd grade. I couldn't see in front of my face. Now I need nothing. I have 20/20 vision up from over 20/400! It's the best thing in the world. Do it without hesitation. You'll love it.

I had a long discussion with an opthamologist I am really close with. Her exact words were "I would never have it done to my eyes". Her concern is the fact that you are scorching the eyeballs and there is no long term data to suggest it is truly safe. Another issue brought up was the fact that with correct vision (glasses/contacts) everything is still sharp and crisp. Many people say that after having Lasik the crispness of their vision was never the same.

When you are dealing with your eyes, I personally would never play games.

i agree, i've worn glasses since i was in the third grade and would love to not need them but i wouldn't ever want to endanger my sight for cosmetics.

i think you can translate anything into whatever it is you want to beleive, bottom line is that fucking around with your Eyes should be a last resort imho...
Sure techonolgy moves fast, and positive thinking towards it is great, but when your natural life as you know it is at stake I would proceed with EXTREME CAUTION....

imagine waking up one day and your blind, nothing is worth that.
I would not wish that on anyone

My uncle had it done in 1992 with the best Argentinian Eye doctor.. he paid 5000 USD per eye.. he is the happiest men on earth.. he was nearly blind and now he's sight is perfect.. and he is almost 60 now.. and its been way over 10 years an no problem..

My advice.. get the best doctor you can afford.. this is proven technology.. you wont go blind.. worse case scenario is that after surgery your sight is still as bad as now.. so really nothing risky

I had it done about two months ago and was pretty nervous but im glad I did it. You do get dryness and everyones experience is different but I had very little discomfort afterwards and was reading without glasses five minutes after the surgery.

Its an odd feeling when you willingingly go into a room to have someone cut the top of your cornea off but its worth it. They gave me a xanax so I wasnt that concerned.

those are some bad eyes man, some people aren't suppose to get it done because theres nothing they can do for them in the long term, i'd say it was a bad call by the doctor on that one

I've been thinking about getting it done, was about to commit to it until I started wearing Focus Night & Day contacts 8 months ago. This are disposable contacts that you wear for a month straight, no night removal, amazing clarity. I've been using acuvue weekly replacements for the last 7 years, so I was already used to contacts. This new Focus are incredible, I used to have to use rewetting drops at least twice a day with the acuvues, now, I have to set a reminder on outlook to remember to replace my contacts.
Regarding lasik, the main issue I see with it is that you cant be guaranteed 20/20 vision, and that after the procedure, you no longer can use contacts...
Besides, I find it really scary to have someone mess with my eyes, and as this is a relatively new procedure, nobody knows the long term consequences of it.

I was just going to say the same thing, just go with contacts first if you are waring glasses now. They really are not a pain in the ass anymore.

Got it done 2 years ago. 20/20 now.
A bit of eye dryeness the first 2-3 months, but a few drops a day makes it go away....

Best investment ever.

My eye doctor when I asked him said that the big problem is scarring... you are using a laser on your eye and it will scar... everyone scars differently and there is no way to predict your reaction. The major side effect of scarring is night glare and loss of night vision. I also work as a live theatre technician so my night vision is my bread and butter... no way I'm going to mess with it.
