It isn't fucking up the Internet anywhere near as much as the crap blocking services such as spamhaus. Spam can be annoying as fuck but rarely makes e-mail unusable. However services that block huge chunks of IP's because someone in the middle of the block is a spamming asshole, cause far more havoc than the spam itself.

E-mail is becoming unusable but not directly because of spamming idiots. The even bigger idiots who claim to offer filtering services but either don't have the technology or are too lazy to filter properly are really making it useless.
