I thought this thread was talking about Randall Robinson (of TransAfrica)'s recent book, THE DEBT--the case for African American Reparations.

Lawrence Dunbar was a great African American poet. Not as well as Langston Hughes, but definitely up there.

The problem with reparations in general is that 1) most white Americans' ancestors came in the late 1800s -- after the Civil War and the abolition of slavery 2) many blacks owned black slaves as well 3) where do you draw the line--have Italians (aka former Romans) collect reparations from Germans (aka Goths?).
