She IS inside! There is that bamboo thing, the window, then the screen/flywire. Shes in the middle of the screen and the window on the inside ;)

I have another kitty but he is so well behaved, most of the time, this one time both the cats were on the chair doing some matrix-like moves.. i wish i taped it!

Ouch! I would ALWAYS get scratches when I played with my cats. Im used to playing really ruff with my Cats so I end up paying for it and running cold water over my hands and arms. Whats in their claws that makes it burn, acid???

Sorry, but I don't think it's very humane to declaw a cat just because they are destructive and we want the animals to fit our needs.
Would it be ok to declaw a dog just because they are making scratch marks in your new hardwood floor?

Dogs are a lot different than cats. Cats do what they want, when they want and I can't keep water bottle spraying or clipping their toe nails for 7 of mine 24/7. I could have given them to the shelter with the other 300 already in there, where they would have been put to sleep if no one adopted them. I love my cats but I don't work to pay for things, for them to tear up.

Parents have baby boy's penises cut, I don't think it's so inhumane to declaw cats. Just my opinion though...

Then if the cat is wilder than the dog, it's just in their nature.

I have to agree with you. My cat literally did nearly 10k in damage to furniture, carpets, etc and I felt like I had no choice after trying EVERYTHING.

Not to mention I have huge scars. That cat is bi-polar, it used to be standing up doing the dishes or whatever and she would come up behind me, jump and dig all of her claws into my back. She's not very bright, but I love her anyhow.

Declawing a cat is extremely inhumane.. They don't just remove the claw, but the entire first knuckle of the "finger" there as well. Not only that, but it changes their stance, and the muscles that cats normally use while stretching and sharpening their claws can atrophy without such use. They are also at an extremely high risk of artheritis and various other serious and painful diseases when they are declawed. It's easy to teach a cat to use a scratching post, if you take the time and effort. My three cats all use their post, my furnature is unscratched, my curtains are in place, and they all have their claws.

It's called a water pistol. If that fails, there is always a method of some kind of training.. Declawing is almost never neccessary if you employ proper training techniques.

Then , say you use the pistol, try your damndest to train them to use the post, and its all in vein? My cat would returm and tear up the couch because I squirted her with the spray-bottle...

Cats are extremely intelligent animals.. Once they learn something they never forget, but the mistake people make is trying to train them like a dog. They are not dogs. They are cats. They think and learn differently. In my former home with 7 cats, I NEVER had problems with them scratching furniture, climbing or clawing things up. Then again I took the time to train them right the first time (even the ones I got as adults, cats can be trained at ANY point in their lives), it took me about two weeks, and I never had a problem again. The inhumanity in declawing cats is that you are physically causing them many more problems then you are fixing.

Still don't think it's inhumane? Read this article:

Several solutions. First off, MEASURE YOUR POST! Those piddly little bitty posts will NOT get use by cats. In order to have a post that properly fits your cat, and is one that your cat will USE, you need to make sure that it's 4 inches longer than your cat when it has it's body FULLY EXTENDED to scratch.. That's the best way to ensure. Make the post more appealing by putting catnip, toys, treats there. Move the post away from all furniture. A water pistol helps, but try wrapping the parts of the furniture that the cats use in tin foil. Cats HATE getting their claws in tin foil. You don't have to do it long before they are deterred. If you use this in conjunction with scent deterrance (you can get this stuff at any pet store, and if used properly it really does work), you will keep your cats off the furniture. Cats are smart.. they figure it out, but you have to be persistant with them. Hitting or yelling at cats does not work. It just makes them mad and stubborn. Patience, love and persistance

Oh and every time you find them breaking the rules, don't yell, don't get mad or scare them.. Simply pick them up, walk them to the post, stretch them out and plant their claws in the post. Tell them they're a good kitty and walk away. They respond better to positive reinforcement than negative.

I have two cats. They are both indoor/outdoor.
Very fun to be around. They understand that I'm the boss, and when I'm playing with them they never use their claws or bite.
Did it once when they where kittens and never again.
I just ignoered them and put them off me for some time. And whole now they understand what is good behavoir.

Though sometimes when they think I'm not home, they hop on the food table and stuff like that, but when I'm there they always behave.

Having animals around you is so giving.

Yeah my cats stay off my counters and tables too, as well as out of my garbage.. They know the capital punishment (a cold shower). They prefer to avoid it

Declawing is wrong! I have brought the light to many people. You can train a cat not to scratch your furniture. I have had several cats through out my life and I have taught every one of them, no scratching of the furniture and no chewing of the plants.
Consistency and a little bit of time will break their habit. I think taking 3 or 4 months of being consistent with it and spending some time on it is a tiny tiny price to pay for them. When you get an animal there is a responsibility to them. Just add that to the list or do not get them.

I would always have a couple of those little scratching posts hidden through out the house, so they have somewhere to mark, besides the furniture. I don't use a spray bottle. I just give a quick startling yelp with a loud clap of the hands and BAM they take off. They will stop. It works!

Their claws are their defense. They have a purpose. Therefore it is needed. Removing something that is not needed, like a dogs dew claw, or a human boys extra skin around the penis, is totally different.

Well like I said... I guess I am just a bad person. I did the scratching post thing, the water etc... They still scratched things and me when they are running around being wild.

There's a house a few miles down the road from me, that has 20 or 30 cats on the front lawn, the cats sit outside 24/7 in the rain, snow and heat with one bowl of food they all eat out of... and always thought I was doing the best for my cats, being I spent thousands of dollars on getting them their shots, spayed/neutered and declawed. My cats are well behaved when they are by themselves, but they act up when they are around each other (all brothers and sisters)... I guess I don't have time to monitor all of them every waking second, even though they take up a large part of my day. I always figured they could have it worse like the people that neglect their animals. I'd never intentionally harm my cats, but I don't want them destroying my things.

My cat did the same thing, when she would sneak outside, a sudden noise would frigten her and she'd jump all the way out my screens thinking she would get in...

Cats are good food! Koreans eat them and I love that food! As for smart..... I don't think so. I have never seen a cat fetch a ball or maybe they are just smart. One thing I do know is they land on their feet when tossed up as high as you can throw!!!! lol
