then we will have to compare notes on wines one day :winkwink: |
if someone leaves less than 15% on service that was at least average, they are a cheapskate.

when I first go to the bar and order the first round I usually give the Bartender a 10 dollar tip so He Remembers me and I usually never have a problem getting a drink the rest of the night Then i tip 2-3 bucks per round or 1 per drink if im only buying one :thumbsup |
Basically, tipping works like this:
Those few of us who tip well make up for the rest of you cheap bastards. |
Exactly...cheap fuckers.

In Montreal, tipping is pretty much mandatory, and I bartended full time for 18 months full time and now do it once or twice a month at clubs for fun. I wouldn't do it if I didn't get tipped, but by the same token, if I give bad service, I literally push the tip back to the customer. I know when my service isn't up to par, and I don't expect thanks for something I never gave. Ah...Friday afternoon...when you budget for your partying, do you include tip? That is the key...you have to include it in your budget so when you are signing your tab, you already know that 50 bucks has to be tagged on to the 200 dollar tab. |

usually because im just to fucxking lazy to deduct the tax and figure it out alot of people just tip on food and booze that is a personal preference |
A wonderfully fun and touchy subject.
First I do believe in tipping if the service is average or better. If the service is below average to poor a tip if any is greatly reduced. Generally I will tip as follows at food places. Great: 25-40% Above average: 15-20% Average: 10-15% Below average: loose change to 5% Poor: Comment card - 0% I also generally tip: Cab drivers: 2.00 per 10.00 spent. Hotel desk clerk: 10.00 - 20.00 in advance. Room cleaning: 5.00 per day. Bag boy: 2.00 per event, plus 1.00 per piece of luggage. Barber: 3.00 to 5.00. Newspaper boy: 7.00 per week. Delivery person: 10-15%. Lawnmowing kid: 5.00 Bartender: 10.00 with first order. Now I know what it is like to work in service, yet around here everyone gets at least minimum wage plus tips. Bad service on the other hand pisses me off to no end. Waitress's often seem to expect a tip no matter what, which is complete and utter bullshit. Hell a few nights ago when we were out, our waitress was doing ok, yet I overheard her talking (ok chit chating) with another waitress about tables which was no surprise. What did shock me was that the other waitress said that she was in no rush at a certain table because it had 9 people at it and she was getting a mandatory 20% anyways. What kind of BS is that? |
