Brag about not using lights, or any real equipment, let's see what your finished product looks like.

So you scallywags dont miss it.

From using a number of different systems over the past 25 years i suggest you buy the Pro Photo Acute lights. I just purchased a second set which we take all over the world they are portable strong fast recycle times and the quality of the flash out put is far better than most. They are very useful if you travel because you can switch voltage from 110-240. We did a shoot in Argentina last month ( 240volts ) and they worked faultlessly shooting around 800-1500 images a day. Worth the extra $$$ IMHO

Steer clear of Photogenics they don't last if you use them in a professional studio, they burn out fast!!!

:thumbsup :thumbsup

Hey guys, pointing a camera at a naked girl DOES NOT make you a photographer.

I used to hear the same things from windbags who thought they were hot shit cause they shot "internet models"

If you shoot photos and people pay for your photos, guess what? That makes you a PROFESSIONAL photographer....

The average fat bald horny surfer doesn't give jack shit about the "art" of photography...He wants to get off..If my photos get him off, then my job is done...

And I shoot with a point and shoot camera and use my house ceiling lights for lighting....

I have to say I have had my profotos for quite some time use them all the time and travel with them as well. They are excllent!
I even bought them used have had them for over a year and half and have never even changed bulbs shooting every week!

I only shoot males (Randy Blue) and even though my work does not take as much time as setting up for a female shoot my pics turn out great!

I ended up going with the ProFotos. The reason is because I was able to get some barely used ProFoto Acute 2400's and another Fuji S2 Pro from WantonGirls for a screaming deal! He saw my post here and let me know what he had available.

Wanton wasn't using his ProFotos like he thought he would. He's used to his Photogenics. And he had 3 S2's.

Damn, I fell into that one!

Thanks, WantonGirls! :glugglug

If that is you, don't fucking bother replying. I want the serious content providers.

Here's my question: I am going to buy studio lights today or tomorrow. I'm torn between two brands:

ProFoto Acute 2400

* or *

Speedotron 2405 blacklines

I've been told that Profotos are overpriced (yet still good of course) and that Speedotrons are more of a "work horse". I abuse the hell out of lights. I have been using Novatron's but we've blown up 4 Novatron Power supplies already this year. We shoot 500 to 1,000 photos a day, 5 to 6 days a week.

Anyone opinions on brand?

(This doesn't really matter, but if you want to know the camera's we use with them: A Nikon D1x, Nikon D1, and a Fuji S2 Pro)

I wouldn't choose either, I prefer Photogenic 1250DR's with 60" umbrellas and a Canon D60 or Canon 10D is what we use.

For video try to the Starlite Media with softboxes, they are great.

IMHO Photogenic has made its mark in the photography world and proved to be great quality.

I think you should go for the Optimus Prime 24587 with 1.21 gigawatts of megapixels.
