they left people in the dark for ages last time!

that's what's scary!

I feel like I'm lost in between a fat man's ass cheeks.
It's getting real ugly!

freeadultcontent 11-12-2003 07:17 PM

I have had contact with em. They been getting the "1 more hour" all day last I heard.

Dildozer 11-12-2003 09:56 PM

Ok this is starting to be fuckin ridiculous. Any more news?

Weird thing, every time JFPdude stops working there shit happens

Hardcore J 11-12-2003 09:59 PM

Evidently its "some big dos attack on level 3"

Are any other hosts that use level 3 down?

backup file? we're not talking about servers being destroyed here. we're talking about level 3 fucking up. why would u need to restore any backups?

Paraskass 11-12-2003 10:04 PM

I don't know shit about servers. Can anybody explain it to me.

Will we, like last time, have to resort to an old backup on behalf of techiemedia or will files be up to date and intact?

Dude, JFPdude is a great tech, but this has nothing to do with him being there or not being there.

1)He's been gone quite some time now

2)This is a level3 issue....all of Techie's hardware is working just fine.

And I promise you, I'm losing just as much if not more money than anyone in this thread who's bitching.....shit happens and you have to live with it.

Shit does happen, but you must agree that 12 hours of downtime is very stressful. ESPECIALLY since we have no idea when they will be back up, and last time something like this happened it was 72 HOURS!

Does anyone know of any sites NOT hosted at techiemedia that have level3 bandwidth in the NY/NJ area that are down too? This seems to be techiemedia specific to me...

I don't think it's possible that a major backbone like Level3 could have 'major problems' on their network for 12+ hours without even a temporary resolution.

In any case, I feel really bad for all of the customers of techiemedia, as well as the folks there who are undoubtedly under a lot of stress right now.

RockDaddy 11-12-2003 10:31 PM

The problem is not with level3, the problem is with equinox.

RockDaddy 11-12-2003 10:36 PM

"Equinox maintains call-in phone support between the hours of 8:00AM to 7:00PM EST"

I hope they work late though to get the problem fixed, otherwise it's probably going to be a long wait.

if you see on the last hop that's techiemedias router which means that there is an issue on techimedia side and from what it looks like from here I'd say someone on techiemedia's network is getting Ddos attack hence taking down their whole network.

As far as Level3 there is no issues in their Newark facility if you want to check for yourself call 1-877-4LEVEL3 :2 cents:

RockDaddy 11-12-2003 10:41 PM

It is not a Level3 issue.

Hardcore J 11-12-2003 10:50 PM

Regardless, they're back online .

Dildozer 11-12-2003 10:50 PM

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!

WOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

GO TM!

Snake Doctor 11-12-2003 11:47 PM

Hey guys quit flaming me....I never said I hopped a flight to Jersey and examined the equipment myself.
I simply repeated what I was told by Techie when I called them.

Unless you were there in the datacenter with them I really don't think you should be posting what you "think is really going on" because you have no idea.

Jim is one of the most honest guys I know in this business, he wouldn't have told me that his equipment was fine and he was waiting on the level3 techs if that wasn't the case.

Who said anything about running fiber to offices or going direct to cogent? :winkwink:

Many hosts out there will sell you smaller fractions of their EXISTING 100mbit or gigabit+ pipes "at cost" if you'll commit to a decent amount (usually 10mbits), in fact they could probably sell that 10mbits 2-4 times over "at cost" without running into major problems.

Rackshack is a prime example of "cogent @ cost" ... but there are plenty others out there.

I called Level3 so I wasn't guessing.
Anyway, they're up now so I guess it's all good.
