And if you really wanted to do the right thing you wouldn't be so concerned about who's getting paid for what. So, in essence, you are exactly the kind of person you are protesting by refusing to donate your organs. It must be tough to look in the mirror.

Also, for someone who claims to know so much about all this you sure do say some ass-backwards things. Organ transplants are <B>not</B> something that a doctor can do in his private office. Doctors performing major surgeries in hostpitals don't set the prices. The hospitals do and in most cases the actual fee to the doctor is not where the bulk of your money is going.

By the use of the word "doctors" I am referring to not only doctors but the hospitals, nurses, etc that go with the transplant. I was trying not to confuse you, sorry about that.

As far as right and wrong goes, the right thing to do is to make sure that the donor family gets enough to at least pay for a tombstone. They are the ones grieving, why should they be left out in the cold? You people are heartless.

What do you mean duped??? If someoen DONATES something, it means they are FREEly giving that thing up for FREE.

I say duped because they have no idea how much money that organ will generate for other people. The only people that don't get paid are the donor families. How fair is that?

Who says they don't know? Maybe they just don't give a fuck. Do you have children? I hope not, because karma is a mother fucker, and if your poor child ever needed anything, it is likely you would not get it.

I'm sure they sit down and explain that Corporation A will make $10k in profit, Corporation B will get $35k and so forth. Get real. Most people probably don't care and I don't have a problem with people doing it. I just think that some of the money should flow back to the donor's grieving family.

And, I am sure as your child was laying there dying in need of a heart, and my child was dead, and I said "Sorry dude, you can't have it unless I get something out of it", you would say "That's cool, I totally agree with that"

YOU get real. I would get more satisfaction and utter happiness from saving your child's life than I could EVER get from ANY amount of fucking money!

I'm not saying it's not a good thing. It is. The BAD thing is that this business generates HUGE money and NONE of it goes to the donor family. Would a few grand be too much to say thank you? It wouldn't even have to be added to the cost, there is plenty of money there already to skim a bit off.

And I'm just saying that is a chicken-shit excuse for not donating. Don't let the money makers stop you from saving several lives upon your death.

How can you ever be happy in life when you base your personal decisions on bitterness over what other people have that you want. That is truly a very sad thing. If you saw a child drowning would you not save it because you don't get paid to do that and lifeguards do? I mean really....not to sound so "deep" on GFY, but you really need to rethink your thought process on this one. Wonderful people die all the time, because of people who think like you. Some people keep their organs for religious beliefs, which is WAY more understandable than what you are saying. That is truly, truly a sad thing.:(

My line of thinking is almost exactly the same as the doctors etc involved in this process. The only difference is that they think they should keep all the money for themselves. I disagree with that.

JennyM, before you bust a nut, look at what he's saying. I don't see any reason why the donor family shouldn't get something for their troubles.

I am a donor and if my family wants to cash in on my death; I feel sorry for them.
