DLP Televisions... any opinions?
Hi,
I'm in the market for a nice, HDTV television and I'm not interested in a plasma. I've got my eye on this 61" Samsung DLP. It's got a beautiful picture and the whole damn set only weighs like 95 pounds. Anyone out there have one of these? What do you think? thanks, marc |

DLP is the cheap alternative to CRT projection. I wouldn't consider a rear projection unit because of the poor visibility when off center. Front projection units are cheap enough and high enough quality to consider... and they're fucking impressive devices. Of course, as long as you have a room that can be completely sealed off from light... and enough wall space for the screen. And enough distance from the projector...

Well, I'm looking for something that will be used for all around television viewing. It seems like the projector route would be better suited for movies instead of casual tv use.
Yes, I have noticed that if you aren't looking at the DLP straight on that it darkens a bit. That's worrisome! |

If you have a good room, dark, etc, I would go with a projector (have one in my media room). I started a thread last week about dlp as well, looking to replace my tv in my living room....

Exactly... "a living room tv"... that's what I'm going for here.
I want the biggest thing I can find that isn't plasma and isn't one of those ugly ass "boxes". DLP has a great picture, the sets look nice and it's large. I'll go ahead and check out your thread now. |
