WWE .....Made my son's day

My son tried to get me to fork over $80 or $90US for a Ray Mysterio Jr mask on wwe.com all month until I took one look at it, saw it was made of vinyl so I told him to forget about it. He had almost convinced my mother into buying it for him until I figured I'd try making this mask myself.

Out came the red, black and white leather I had lying around in chest from my creative days - cut something up, my mother sewed it up along with a pair of pants he had modified & he cut out the lettering in leather to sew along the sides. (edit) If I may say so myself.....it was really a cool costume for Halloween.

My ex-husband by fluke had a friend offer him tickets to todays'
Up Close & Uncensored (SmackDown! brand) - second row seats - so my son decided he was wearing the outfit to the show or fight or whatever they call it nowadays.

Ray Mysterio Jr., as he was passing by, stop by my son - tossled his head (mask), shook his hand and said 'gracias'.
Simple gesture and the kid is on cloud nine - thanking my mom & me for being the best mask makers around!

That's great! It's nice that the wrestlers acknowledge the young fans. When I was young I met Hulk Hogan on a plane to Detroit and I was like a deer caught in headlights! LOL! It meant so much to me that Hulk said hello and took the time to talk to me for few moments.

He's just so...freaked out about it cuz it all happened like a dream. Who the hell would have thought he would get tickets last minute (his dad called me last night to advise me & my son was at a party so he only found out this morning) 2nd row to boot.....and right by the path where they walk in. Really cool!

Kind of makes me feel bad that I argue with him everytime he wants to watch wrestling.

It is.
Kind of rewarding for me too. It really made him happy to have the mask. His friends were like 'wow you're lucky, your mom is cool, she can make masks' but to have had attention brought to him by the person who wears this mask as a profession......makes me feel good too :-)

BTW.....shame on me....his name is spelled
REY Mysterio Jr.

Wrestlers are entertainers and out to sell themselves to the crowds and build their fan bases. As a promoter of wrestling with over 250 shows with IWA and CJW I have met many cool wrestlers they are a unique breed of person the guys are willing to bust themselves up for a few bucks each week. The girls are far more demanding but every wrestler is dedicated to their fans and will always take time to say hello chat and even sign a few autographs the jellywrestlers manage to even sell theirs. Over the years i have met a few wrestlers that have made a name for themselves they used to ring /visit my house mates a WCW wrestlers and IWA owner. The one common thing they all have is they are friendly in person. Everyone is the bad guy in wrestling untill you make a name. When you have made that name and the crowds start cheering the character then he is the good guy.
We need more bad guys than good guys in this biz.
