I would agree with you if you had a business that relied on webmasters such as a designer , content provider or an affiliate program that made the majority of their $$ off others.

Some people like quiet don't have affiliate programs and others like myself do not rely on the affiliate programs and use it as extra income.

As to traffic trades, you forget to mention search engine traffic which is excellent and other options like your own mailing list.

As to being a dick, I take in to consideration at this board,

1. is the person really being a dick or
2. just defending themselves from the lying crap that is said.

No, what I said is absolutely true. If your site or sites have any traffic at all, it has to come from somewhere.... and that means that you must interact with other webmasters in some way, somewhere, somehow.

just because i choose to not make my life via a board doesnt mean anything. i keep anything i do between the people i have known for years and years, know and trust. it would be foolish for anyone to do otherwise.

I guess it really depends on your definition of "webmaster". Is Sergei Brin of Google a webmaster? How about John Perry of iBill or John Gerdelman of Above.net?

It is certainly possible to run a sucessful adult business without having to do business with the adult industry.

That's fine.... you aren't exactly the kind of webmaster most of what I've said is referring to. We both know however, that there are quite a few people who seem to put themselves out there as being available for work (or they want webmasters to join their program, or what-have-you), yet they conduct themselves like little dickless pimple-faced pre-adolescents on here. If these people think other webmasters aren't taking notice, well, I've found that usually what goes around comes around. There will come a day when one of these individuals will request a link trade, or they will put a bid in for a scripting or design job... and they will be told to piss off.

Then they will realize the meaning of what I have said here.


Obviously not everthing I've said is going to apply to everyone.

in any business you have a reputation to upkeep. yes it helps if your respectable, but don't attack those who are having fun.


if you don't have a thick skin stay home.

some of the most successful people on this board are assholes, but it doesn't hurt their business any. people still drool over their posts.
