Motivation can be hard to come by but I doubt a chick is going to motivate you to stay on the computer more. :1orglaugh Go buy a toy and try to pay for it in 2 months or less. :winkwink: (Motivation) 50 Non 9 to 5ers! |
I have had discussions with friends of mine that work that don't understand how I can sit at home all day. One of them is 38 years old and a cook at Applebees for $11 a hour. He would rather do that, than what I do (which I don't understand). I make more in one day than he does all week. He stands over some hot broiler all day with someone telling him what to do and works his butt off from 6 in the mourning till 5 at night. I don't understand how he can do that and he doesn't understand how I can do what I do. He barely brings in enough money for rent and food each month.
He is happy and content working for hard for somebody and earning them money and I'm happy and content having freedom and making decent money to do what I want. It's beyond my understanding on how he would rather work for somebody and earn barely nothing and not understand why I'm happy with my freedom and making decent money. |

Self employment involves Crack. Help me pimp out Crack Whores and get paid... Pimpin' - now that's a real job! |
I just got back from Taco Bell and while i was there i looked at my hubby and said "this is why i work at home for myself". But thank god that they work or otherwise there would be nobody to make me Nacho Supremes!

You CAN be a good person and do this job. As long as I see the evil -- and as long as I know what I'm being selfish about, I can live with myself... This job gives you time to look and see how the world works -- sometime's it's pretty, sometime's it's not. You are right though -- I'd rather live in a cardboard box accessing the internet through WIFI than working a 9-5... I have some backup plans -- but they this job holds onto you with a tight grip... The grip of manhood -- the grip of freedom of mind and body -- friendship -- even identity... When I look back at my life -- it's as if this is my destiny. I think we will be slipping through these cracks for a long time -- the cat is out of the hat -- the internet is rocking the world... we should be remembered fondly... let the legend live on. :winkwink: |

By the way, they all pretty much were able to retire at the age of 30. They still looked owning and taking care of a business though. |

Well I can't see the "15 to 20 minutes a day" thing, It takes me longer to look through my emails than that. :1orglaugh
There is money to be made, but not sitting on your ass doing nothing, JMHO I work at different things "7 days a week" (girlfriend hates it) But I have been doing it for over 5 years and make a good living. Anyone who blows smoke up your ass and says you can make a good living working "15 to 20 minutes a day", has someone they are paying to do all the work for them. JMHO.... And Just My :2 cents: |

Then again, the same question will appear for pr0n when.. NOT IF... when Credit Card and FTC regulations force most US operations to massively restructure and shave margins for lower to mid webmasters. Uncertainty is the salt of life :) |
I love being self employed. I was raised being in business for yourself and I couldn't imagine having to work for someone else, for a fraction of what they make or worse, entry level management telling me what to do, when I know I am smarter than the hair on their toes.
It's unrealistic for everyone to be self employed. There's a time and place for every job in this world and however menial or unappealing they might seem to others, they are still important. Not everyone can be a surgeon or stock shelves at Walmart or pour concrete. Someone has to do these jobs and I appreciate the ones that do the jobs that I don't. Obviously there's money to be made working under others. I'm hella glad there's butchers and slaughter house workers, because I would eat tree bark before doing that for myself. People who aren't self employed might not have some of the conveniences the ones that are have.. but being self employed has it's downfalls as well, especially when you aren't making as much money as you should be and then you have to pay for your own health insurance and plan your own 401k plan for retirement. Not to mention, if you have employees working for you, paying into unemployment and all sorts of other insurances. Being self employed doesn't always guarantee financial security.... but it does give you uncomparable freedom. There's also a difference between being self employed and when your money works for you. I can get away with very little work during the day and weeks at a time, because I am lucky... but when I do have to do work, it's tedious and hard. Some people just have their money working for them, so their presence isn't even needed. I emply myself, but I still work for my money. I started staying up all night and I miss the whole day, when "normal" people are doing business. Gets lonesome at times... no colleagues or schedules to follow. I hope to get on a normal time schedule soon... I need some more discipline in my life :1orglaugh I feel guilty for having it so good, when others have it so bad. I'm ridiculously spoiled and that's why even though I have advantages some others don't, I give to charities and causes... because it's the least I can do, to contribute to society, other than taxes :uhoh |

There's a lot of money in mainstream stuff too. |
It boils down to "to each it's own" some ppl chose to work for others and some have no choice...

I've been pretty well able to keep my costs to no more of a 50% increase compared to my pre porn days. All I really got to pay is mortgages, and for the most part I got others doing that. But it is totally inconcievable to go back to working for the man even for a decent wage. The only thing that I really worry about is what I will do in the post porn world, if it ever comes. |
