Are they fucking drunk?
Why do LSC have popups on their no-pop up links?

Gives me consoles (2) the first time I load itComment

Ummmm yes!And you call this no-console link?
Isnt your traffic valuable enough to at least try to get them a second time? I would rather get the trial sale then nothing at all. Seems to me that LS is looking out for you and your traffic. Its not going to a LS sponsor, its going to special offers for there sites.. you get full credit. Frankly.. Im glad they care enough about my traffic to give the surfer a secind chance.Last edited by PerfectionGirls; 10-24-2003, 07:06 AM.SIG TOO BIG! Maximum 120x60 button and no more than 3 text lines of DEFAULT SIZE and COLOR. Unless your sig is for a GFY top banner sponsor, then you may use a 624x80 instead of a 120x60.Comment

BUT after the popup to the discount sales page ( which I think is fine and a good idea), there is ANOTHER SALES popup!Originally posted by PerfectionGirls

Sure is... to one of there sites. Once again... its just being responsible with the traffic there affiliate send to them. If they were sending to sponsors it would be a different story.BUT after the popup to the discount sales page ( which I think is fine and a good idea), there is ANOTHER SALES popup!
Also... affiliates get full credit.. We do about 5 signups a day off that little exits to Lightspeed18 and the like.SIG TOO BIG! PerfectionGirls, this is not a matter of LSC being thinking about making me more money or not ..
When I pick a no-popup link from the wm area, there should be NO POP ups in the link, why the hell call it no-console links then ?Comment

mmm, no popups should be no popups. If they want popups, well, then dont call it no popups? =) .. its just silly to call it something it obviously aint?Comment

I am not argueing that point, I am all for pop-ups. The point is no popups mean NO popups. It's not rocket science.Comment

I see your point. Can't argue with that. Personally I like the fact they have that last chance option on the tour. Puts more money in my pocket. However, if you have an application where any sort of pop is frowned on.. I can see your point. When I pick a no-popup link from the wm area, there should be NO POP ups in the link, why the hell call it no-console links then ?
It's still a money maker no matter how you slice it.SIG TOO BIG! Maximum 120x60 button and no more than 3 text lines of DEFAULT SIZE and COLOR. Unless your sig is for a GFY top banner sponsor, then you may use a 624x80 instead of a 120x60.Comment

That is stupid. Spare me the bullshit about how it grabs a few more sales. I'm sure it does, but no popups should mean just that, no popups.
There really should be 3 linking options.
Consoles
No entry consoles, with 2nd try exits.

Given this disgussion I have to say I agree. I dont have a problem with it at all. It grabs sales for us, but if someone truly needs a no-console tour for a specific application I can see how the current "no-console" tour links might cause a bit of confusion. There really should be 3 linking options.
Those poor programmers over there... hehehe.... They dont get one minutes rest.

I don't care who's looking out for me I expect sponsor's to be honest. If a sponsor offers a "no console" tour I expect exactly that, NO CONSOLES. I don't care what their reasoning is. If I choose not to have consoles pissing off my visitors and pick a sponsor because they claim to have "no consoles" don't fuck with me and pop consoles and tell me it's in my best interest. I'll decide what's in my best interest, thank you very much.

I see what has happened now.
This is a problem introduced when our programmers recoded our tours and linking codes. Our "no-console" tours are popping a trial offer, then our megasite offer. We hardly consider this an "unescapable trap". We have a plan to change it back to no consoles at all, but it will take a while to implement.
We are in the process of building Lightspeed4, a new affiliate/traffic management tool to replace our current system.
The plans for Lightspeed4 have a "build your own tour" option -- where you can decide which elements of our tour pages would work best for your traffic, including
1) the ability to turn trials off (or whether include them in a popup or by showing them up front)
2) the ability to have none, light, medium, or heavy exit consoles
3) lots more great features, most are top secret at this time
Lightspeed4 is currently scheduled for April 2004
We will find an interim solution for the no-consoles problem asap, its not as simple as it looks now that all our tours are hosted inside of a zero-frame.
In the meantime, you can always use a "landing page" -- so your gallery links go to your own page that you can control. That gives you a lot of extra flexibiity, that is how most emailers handle their traffic too.
