When you check into a hotel that has internet access in the rooms do they just give you software for the connection? i mean you bring your laptop in and plug it in but I'm sure you need software for thier provider right?

Mostly, no.. You need an ethernet jack and thats it. Oh and the $19.95 a day that most will charge. It's rare that its automatically included in the bill.

I've been on the road for three weeks and have had only a dialup connection.....mostly cheap hotels, but in the nicer hotels if you have a wireless card....you can get on the hotels wireless network. I had access throughout the whole hotel.

you might want to call ahead just to make sure they provide internet connection in your room. Alot of hotels here only provide access thru a single computer in the lobby - and you pay by the minute.
