Is anyone good with digital cameras?

a while back i had a shitty camera, sony mavica and it used the floppy as film. But it took shitty pictures, very grainy, etc.

now i went and spent near $500 on this new one, here are the stats:

Olympus Camedia
Digital Camera D-560 ZOOM
3.2 megapixel

Last night i was at a party and took about 100 pictures, most of them came out looking grainy!

There was a lady there that had a Canon Powershot, i think its an elf? Every one of her pics came out crystal clear! Every single one of them!

She said because she had it on the highest quality or something, so i went in and made mine the highest quality, and they were still grainy!

Here are the settings i have for quality:

SHQ 2048x1536
HQ 2048x1536
SQ1 1024x768
SQ2 640x480

i mostly used the lowest one so i can get more pictures, but even on the highest one they are still grainy.

Now i can buy a bigger mem stick and just leave it on the highest setting, but something is still wrong, i tried it on that setting :/

has anyone had this problem?

Lightning is the problem it sounds like. Though you never know since its digital there could be a defect in your camera.

If it's got a lens setting selector, check it. If you're trying to take pics at a distance, but your settings are on macro or close-up, the pics will look like ass.

press down the "take picture button" a little. A light start to flash in the viewer. When that flashes it is focused and everything. Press it all the way down...and voila...sharp picture.
